As I have shared with many here via PM the last few weeks, I believe The Big 12 won't expand this year. Just a hunch from all the comments and PM's I get about it from Big 12 friends. This piece from Ubben at ESPN seems to agree.

BigXII will eventually expand, otherwise WVU made the dumbest mistake ever. Either way, I'm tired of caring.

Its a rather interesting development while the Big XII is currently holding its meetings or is about to hold them.

I did feel all along that the Big XII was done w/ WVU. I do feel that Louisville deserves to be in the Big 4/5 and will be there someday. Just the timing isn't right. You guys have a 1st class all around athletic program. It was awesome being in a conference with y'all and I wish yinz the best of luck this upcoming year and in the future.

Staying at 10 is NOT a viable option for the BigXII.

If FSU is willing to leave the ACC for the Big XII, the Big XII will expand. If not, they won't. FSU is the linch pin presently. At least, that's how I read things at the moment...

I know I'll get flamed for this, but if the Big East were to ever be given time to stabilize, it could become a very competitive conference.

That's always been the case, dude. It hasn't happened so far...

I'm starting to feel that the Current 12 leadership is just as bad and confused as the BE leadership.

I agree with this assessment. The Big Texas XII will not publicly pursue FSU. FSU will have to decide that it is leaving the ACC first before the conference extends a formal invitation.

I just don't believe, once cooler heads prevail (not fans, however) that FSU officials will see they have a good thing going in the ACC.

If they can manage to get Swofford ejected from the "Commish" chair, that'll be the cherry on top.
