UCF #15 Preseason Ranking
There were some whispers that this may happen, but it's official (per Phil Steele)
Tbh, I think UCF fans are as shocked and skeptical as anyone else is. What say you nBE?

And USF #20?
I know that is NOT our University Of San Francisco. :cowbell:

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-
He also has USF preseason #20.
I'm sorry, but the USA Today Poll will not put either of those two schools in the preseason top 25. Phil is on something HEAVY.

There are lots of polls. I guess getting a little love from somewhere is better than none from nobody... ;-) If UCF kicks it, he'll look like a genius.

I think there's a feeling in Orlando that either this will be a special year or one to forget, not much in between.

Expectations are high, higher than last year. The difference however, is, we are all pessimistic.

RE: UCF #15 Preseason Ranking
A final ranking of #15 probably equates to one loss (no losses would be Top 10, two losses would be below #20).
Can you do that? At Ohio State might be one loss, then you'd have to run the table. Missouri is a home game (tough, but very winnable). Then you may have to beat SMU twice.
I think it can be done, but the odds are against it.
That Ohio State game is not a sure loss. If you pull off a win there, look out.

If we can't beat them this year, i don't think we ever will be able to. I don't see an opportunity like we have been presented happening very often. New coach, new system, new staff in a perennial top ten league under NCAA ban? It's this year... or... i don't want to think of it.

RE: UCF #15 Preseason Ranking
If, one year from now, Phil Steele turns out to be right... what kind of slam dunk would that be on potentail (now mythical) BCS points with the acquisition of Boise State, Houston, and now UCF as football powerhouses? (more potential powerhouses in houston and UCF, i'm not so arrogant as to believe one year proves anything)

RE: UCF #15 Preseason Ranking
I still think people are overlooking UTEP and Tulsa as contenders again. Tulsa will probably have the best overall team in the West, SMU with the best defense, but the way Tulsa has been coached has been awesome to see.
I think it is Tulsa v. *EAST* this year, whoever it is.

RE: UCF #15 Preseason Ranking
7 nBE members/prospective members (yes, I included BYU ) in the top 40. Not bad for a "non-major" conference.
#15 UCF
#20 USF
#26 Boise St
#32 Houston
#34 Louisville
#35 BYU
#40 Rutgers

When did it go from Marshall winning CUSA to Tulsa v. *EAST*? Suddenly not so confident in that trendy, Marshall pick of yours?
UTEP, a contender? lulz
SMU, the best defense in the West? UH's was better last year, and returns more.
You make a solid argument for Tulsa. After all, they did "take it to" UH last year, right?
We get it, you like trolling UH fans. You sure Tulane and Rice won't have a say in the West?

RE: UCF #15 Preseason Ranking
Im feeling UH could potentially have another BCS buster season. No team on our schedule is unbeatable. If only I could get some certainty on WR position, I think I am confident saying we go 10-2 or better with a 20 or better rank. The most probable 'loss' is the road game at the Rose Bowl

RE: UCF #15 Preseason Ranking
Phil Steele has both QB Tyler Gabbert and RB Storm Johnson on our starting roster. Only problem with that is O'Leary has the loyalty of a saint when it comes to upperclassmen.
It will be Bortles team for a minimum of 4 games and if we are winning then there will be no QB change.
Storm Johnson will be apart of a RB rotation. No one has been the true RB since Kevin Smith.
He picked the 2 sexy names to fluff us up a bit.

I am still confident in that pick. But this isn't a prediction thread. What I just said was stating the obvious: an EAST team will be playing Tulsa in the C-USA Championship Game, and I believe the one team to do it will be Marshall. I never changed anything.

Don't know about UCF but USF definitely has the personnel and potential to finish in top 20. This is USF's year mark it down.
