Will adding 3 new teams bring in a huge new sum of $$$ to make it worth the current 13's while?

Conf already has enough for a title game...so that won't be added...just that $$$ would be split 16 ways instead of 13.

I think there is a very good reason why the most profitable conferences all have 14 members or less.

No they said they wanted to sign up, but couldn't do it not knowing who the network(s) would be, what the numbers looked like, and what kind of exposure they would have.
Once the BE gets past the 60-day exclusive right to negotiate window with ESPiN, the BE can gather all the info from all the bidding networks and present it to BYU.

And, this why a number #14 has not been invited yet. Because BE is going to get all the ducks in a row, and present to BYU
The ball will be in their court, and depending on what BYU says the BE will either announce BYU as #14 or the BE will move on.

And end up with 15 football members?

Can't think of a worse plan than that....as there is a very good reason why the most profitable conferences all have "even" numbered members...and all have 14 or less.
We have 13 right now, including Navy. All 3 would make 16, if nobody leaves, and AF wouldn't come in until Navy does. So if the other two came in together, it would remain at even numbers.

I have no idea where he got 15 from anyway. Even if Louisville leaves, which is looking less likely as the FSU/Clemson to the Big 12 rumors continue to heat up, the Big East can just plug in UMass as a replacement and stay at 16. If he just can't count, however, that is a whole different story.

Everyone, you must understand that David Kryptonite favors redistricting college football based on geography.

So that the new Big East totally runs counter to what he prefers to see.

Never mind that what he prefers will never happen. But this explains his POV. He actually wants Air Force and BYU to say No to the Big East.

UCONN-SMU is right, there nothing special about BYU at least from UCONB's perspective. They just blend in.

BYU already has an agreement with Houston to play in 2013 & 2014.

As well as Boise and Notre Dame.

Heres an interesting quote from the BYU AD made back around the middle of 2011.

“Internet rumors are mainly wrong. I mean there’s a lot of them and I don’t read them but people bring them to my attention…and, uh, I think that some of them are wildly wrong…and if there’s enough people guessing some of them are gonna be right. But there’s so many out there that are wrong.”

“The process is, I have this paper in front of me right now and we have games scheduled out through 2020. Just a few in the later years, but through 2014 we’re getting very close to, you know, 3/4 of the way full on some of those…15, 16, 17 we’re talking every day right now with teams trying to fill those up.”

Some teams that you talk to want to play you two-for-one, and it’s not in our best interest to play all BCS teams two-for-one.”

I think the bold part is one of the biggest challenges facing BYU as an independent. FYI---The Notre Dame series is not even a 2 for 1----its a 3 for 1.
