Love the enthusiasm that players are having about our move UP to C-USA. And already "stealing" recruits from our future conference rivals (Marshall) feels nice. Feels like we might already belong..
St Joseph's Rob Thompson, 6-0, 178lbs, CB, from Hammonton, NJ has committed to play at Old Dominion. Has 4.59-40 speed. Rob has 9 offers including Big-10 Iowa. Watch the video the guy has a great athleticism and quickness going after the ball. Old Dominion is killing it in NJ.
It's awesome that JMU, W&M and most of the FCS powerhouses have zero football commits for 2013 listed on the recruiting sites yet although I understand these lists can be spotty. It's just confirmation that our recruiting has moved on to the next level and we're not getting the leftover scraps. Good job BW & company!
Impressive list of recruits. Before the hiring of our new football coach (Garrick McGee) at UAB , I had never really tried to keep track of recruiting, besides, all we ever get on TV or radio is about the young men and women going to BCS schools, almost never with the "mid-majors". Coach McGee has stated that he could find the players he wanted for his team right here in the state of Alabama, he has stuck to that and has put together a solid looking ball club. From that moment on, I've grown very curious about the recruits of Conference USA, how immediate their impact will be, and what made them choose to come to our conference, even the ones that, as one poster here put it, had multiple offers from so-called "bigger" schools. IMO, "bigger" doesn't always translate into "better", I think this new generation of football players are starting to realize that, even the ones with NFL aspirations. If you're good enough, the league will find you, the name of the school you represent will not be a hindrance to their goal. I hope these young men have a successful tenure at Old Dominion and Conference USA.
Here is Daniel Nash's highlight video. For what it's worth, he appears to have great burst off the snap, allowing him to keep outside contain and put pressure on the QB with ease.
