We pummeled SDSU in SD last time, but I doubt we'll beat them that badly again.
That should answer the question as to how I view them.
Yep, that was the worst year in the HISTORY of our program, things have changed since then.
Since you never returned that game, the BE should have tacked on $1MM to your entrance fee, and forwarded it straight to us
I thought Cinci wanted out of the game for some reason?

Based on posts the OP made in other forums, I think he's upset that Boise and SDSU are going to the BE and "sacrificing" their Olympic sports.

This topic is talked about daily in San Diego. You can start on this topic with a SoCal Aztec fan and still be discussing the pros/cons etc forever.
My take is one of the more simple ones...
Due to the shape of the program financially and the way College football is changing (quickly), the Aztecs had no choice what so ever to join the Big East when the offer came.
Everything after that invite is just what it is and something we deal with going forward. To me it was a no brainer because of the money.
And I say...Thank you Big East for that invite.

How I feel about our next meeting is this. I don't know very much about Cincinnati football. However, the mere fact Chuck is Long gone will help SDSU immensely.

You would have to add UCONN, Rutgers and Temple to that list as well. Whenthe ACC picked SYR and PItt, UCONN, Rutgers and Temple were also petitioning for membership. Those just happen to be the BE school in the northeast-- get the hint.
I disagree with SYR move to the ACC but if the CUSA members were pushing further west and south, I can see the desire to at least remain on the Atlantic coast- if not the northeast. Conferences should be regional not national.

We were supposed to play this year, but SDSU got a pay game with Washington this year, and asked us to move it. That was all before the BE invite. So now it doesn't really matter if SDSU will ever return that game.
I was just funning with James anyway.

You have a great point. EVERY school in this conference is guilty. It's just that, SU, Pitt and WVU are the only ones to have succeeded at this point.

BSU and SDSU think the same, if your not trying to better your program what are you playing for. BSU has always been a risk taker, damn the torpedos, full speed ahead. Its always worked and will this time also. Being in the MWC the way it is now is like riding the short bus when all your friends are driving to school in a lexus.

RE: How are BSU & SDSU viewed by placing their other sports lower level conference conf
The Big East will be fine. We will get the same if not more then the ACC. 4 Mil a year is a complete joke. Football isn't year round. If the dumbasses are honestly willing to pass up a very good football league and the best damn basketball league then they are insane. Like I said before even if the ACC doesn't lose anything. If everything remains the way it is right now. We know what the ACC is going to give us most years. With the New Big East the ceiling is so much higher. Just like every other school has taken off since joining so will the new teams. Hell UCF, Houston, Boise St., Navy, SMU, San Diego State, Memphis, ( BYU or AFA or Fresno who knows). Point is we already have the biggest market and it will get bigger.
Can any of the "Debbie Downers" tell me what either 7-10 of those teams will be doing in 3-5 years?
*Ceiling is much Higher* then the ACC and we have a bigger market. The TV Deal will be great just enjoy the goodtimes we have coming ahead.

It not like there's a substantial difference between the quality of BE football & MWC football (i know, money!) as compared to jumping from the MWC to say a BIG 12 or PAC 12. I just don't see the quality athletes going to these schools other than football players.
Are these school sending the wrong message about their school's culture? I also don't think this helps the perception by other high ranking schools in other conference concerning these school. Are these schools giving too much up to join an unstable Big East?
What say you.
I seriously don't think so. As others have said, that extra FB money will go a long way towards supporting ALL the school sports. I don't know much about the Big West, but it looks fine. Just how much of a step down it is for the olympic sports may be debated, but I doubt it's like falling to D3 or anything like that... so it's a good deal all around. Which is why SDSU and BSU are doing this in the first place.
