We definitely be slangin' some Boise State paraphernalia.

It should be noted though that not all schools sell under CLC.

Marquette finishing below Idaho is a crime.

SMU needs to get its swag back. Hopefully Larry Brown can do it. I don't really see it happening from a football perspective. We might be an above average football team, but I think we have a much better shot of becoming nationally recognized in basketball - and therefore in the region.

Thanks for the data. This confirms what we already know: With not a single football team in the merchandising top 30, the Big East is bereft of the "big name tentpoles" that networks probably desire most when signing media deals.

Schools in top 30, by conference (new affiliations):

B1G: ............7 (including Ohio State)
SEC: ......... 11
Big 12: .........5
ACC: ............4
PAC: ...........3 (including USC)

Big East: 0

But Notre Dame, ranked #10, is our ally.

RE: Some Big East "Tentpoles"
The actual ranking does nothing for me. I want to see how much of a difference there is between each spot. Iif there isn't a big difference between 20 and 75 that would tell me something. I also would like a list of the schools not under the clc.

These numbers were taken during basketball season so I would like to see the two quarters before which would include the entire football season and the summer months when a lot of the new gear is released to retail. I would love to see if Duke, North Carolina, or Kentucky drop during this period.

Anyone finishing below Idaho is criminal.

Idaho only graced this top-75 because they released new logos & a ton of gear to go with it this year.

That always boosts the numbers in the short-term.

SMU needs to loosen its licensing restrictions. I can't tell you how many times I've been to a sports store and asked if they had something for SMU when I was told the manufacturer doesn't have a contract with SMU. You can buy Oklahoma and Baylor stuff all over Dallas, but SMU? Forget it. You have to go to the campus.

Seriously? You have a much better chance at becoming a FB power in the big east than a BBall power. You have a lot more established names in better recruiting grounds. In FB you have the advantage in recruiting and are a FB school. Stick with what you know.

+1

FB Coach June Jones has injected massive-change into that field in Dallas...The waves will be big ones in the next few years. That's where the publicity is for SMU.

SMU's BB goal should be to become competitive in the Big East and reach the Top 25 at some point.

SMU's FB goal should be to compete for Big East championships and appear frequently in the Top 25.

My goal for SMU BB is to be competitive in the Big East and reach the Top 25 at some point in my lifetime.

My goal for SMU FB is to compete for Big East championships and appear frequently in the Top 25.

Not too far from my own alma-mater goals.

Much more concerned about the state of FB in this market.

I agree, but I'm a little lukewarm with our recruiting as of late, June Jone's staff is a little questionable, and I have to question his longevity (one year for sure, but then maybe he's gone? Maybe another 5 years? Who knows? And that's a problem). I think you can turn around a bball program infinitely quicker than a football one. June is still struggling to hop over the major hurdle of putting together a nice winning season (9-10 wins is what I'm thinking), and that's in CUSA. While the Big East is going to kill us in basketball, at least you know that great short term recruiting can get you a top 25 team and with the right coaching (and we're more than okay in that regard) you can become a tournament threat.
