Perhaps all Big East FB schools need one. Maybe we can get a discount for buying a fleet.

Wait, you guys go cross-country in a prop plane? Or is this some prop-jet crossover dealie? <--- Obviously a person up on their plane nomenclature.

Could be a turbo-prop. Which is basically a jet/prop hybrid thing. Others with even more aircraft knowledge can expand, I'm sure.

It's just Alaska Airlines painting one of their planes because they are starting daily routes from San Diego to Yosemite/Fresno
They do it with a bunch of NW teams like boise, washington, et al

Looks like a Bombardier Dash 8 in the front, really can't tell what the back plane is with the Dash 8 blocking most of it.
EDIT: Based on it's size relative to the Dash 8 and the fact that the engines are under the wings, I'm going to have to guess that the plane in the background is from the Embraer E-Jet family, probably an E-170 based on the fact that it looks roughly the same size as the Dash 8.

Having your own plane is way cool, but I can't believe a Cali team joining the big EAST would take a prop job. Convenient, but all those flights will be much longer than they need to be. May be worth it though if the plane is really comfortable and for convenience sake it's always readily available for quick departures. Maybe cheaper on fuel to for all the Olympic sports to use...

Forget being too slow. The plane is too small for a football team, coaches, trainers, administrators, etc. It only seats 78 in the largest configuration. SDSU will not be using this plane for their football team to fly to Big East games.

Relax.
It's just marketing-power. SDSU will not be using that to charter flights to Big East games.
We've had a similar plane in that fleet for years now, and our team has never seen it, except when at the airport.

I'm very relaxed. I am also well aware that this is just a marketing thing. It is like the Southwest plane that was painted like Shamu. It didn't mean Shamu was flying on the plane.
I was just saying that even if they DID want to fly on this plane type, they couldn't fit on it.

Haha.....we have whole fleet.
As long as you dont mind sitting on top of boxes. It gets really crowded around Christmas!
Yeah... about the DC-10 aircraft... there is a REASON it ended-up retooled for cargo-carrier work. Something about that tail breaking-off and the ventral engine bailing-out.
(Sorry... I'm Old.)

I've flown a couple of times with Shamu.
