Basketball OC Games
Wondering if any OC games with incoming newbies might be scheduled this year ? Luv to have UNT matched up especially with Tulsa, UTEP or any other future Western divison folks.

RE: Basketball OC Games
we need buy games if anyone is interested...it's a ***** trying to get one year contracts since everything changes nest season.

2012-2013:

Louisville
@Tennessee
@Xavier
Battle for Atlantis (Memphis, Mizzou, Stanford, Duke, Minny, Louisville)

i wouldn't mind seeing Charlotte and ODU on the home slate.

ODU will start on the road with Memphis if you return next season. Otherwise they refuse to play anything other than H/H.

the issue is we don't even know how many BE games will be played yet...making any schedule past 2012-2013 is almost impossible right now.

that said we could load up on local D-1 teams that would jump at a buy game...like say...Ark State, UT-Martin, Belmont, Lipscomb, TN Tech, maybe MTSU.

the up side is Memphis could have 28-29 wins going into selection sunday...down side is RPI.

Ditto for North Texas; after all, LSU played a H & H with the Mean Green with our beating the Tigers in Baton Rouge and their beating us in Denton (dammit).03-banghead

UTEP's OOC basketball schedule is not complete yet. Have not seen UNT on it and so far it includes:

UNLV, Oregon, NMSU at home and in negotiations with Oral Roberts to also play in El Paso. The Sun Carnival tournament teams have not been announced yet and that will be 2 games.

Road game at NMSU and a tournament that includes Clemson, Davidson, Gonzaga, Marist, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and West Virginia in the Old Spice Classic Nov. 22-25 in Orlando. Three games there.

Probably another 5 games to schedule yet.

I'm pretty sure ECU plays @ Charlotte and is home to Old Dominion next season....both games returns of last season's contests (home/road respectively). I think we also have Appy State at home and maybe UNC-Greensboro as well. And we return the UMass game....so that will be a road game. I bet a lot of our OOC is already set.

RE: Basketball OC Games
I think ODU is supposed to head back to ECU this year for sure. We have played Marshall & UAB recently, but I am not sure if they are on the schedule now. Right now the only OOC I know of are ECU, UVA, UCF, VCU, Richmond, & Cleveland St, and I know we are trying to start a H/H with another BCS school (it has been G'town and Missouri in the past but probably a different team this year.)

There is not a school in the new CUSA that Memphis would play a H/H with except for maybe UAB and ODU. The rest of them offer very little in return.

I think both of those schools may be a stretch at this point.

Probably. I think we will keep the UAB series because of its regional proximity, nice rivalry, and usually strong RPI. No reason not to unless we end up playing 30 Big East Conference games.

I hope so. There is so much good about this series that I would hate to see it just come to an abrupt end. It's an easy game to travel to. It always has good crowds. Both teams are consistently winners. And I think the fans of both schools like the game. Time will tell, but if we lost this game, it would be the worst part of the realignment to me.

It really will come down to what we have to do in the Big East. There is a good chance it goes to 18 conference games and we have to pick up more buy games instead of actual series.

Likewise we'd only be playing Memphis in football if we felt we needed a sure win to become bowl eligible or something along those lines.

I think Memphis would be stupid not to pick up some CUSA schools. They are teams that they know they should beat and can get a pretty high RPI boost out of. Marshall and USM were all top 50 RPI with USM breaking top 10 and holding top 20 RPI most of the season. I don't know how consistent this will become in the future, but none of us expect to regress anytime soon.

and here i thought the title said BASKETBALL OC GAMES...leave it to USM, ECU, and Marshall posters to bring up football in a basketball thread.

I seriously doubt that C-USA teams have much interest in playing the departees in anything, except maybe Rice-Houston.

ODU played at ECU in 10-11 and hosted in 11-12. With ODU hating to play anything but home and homes I'm not sure how this would work.

Add home games vs. Holy Cross, Morgan State, Texas-Arlington (season opening tourney @ the Ted) and probably Fairfield (2nd year of series) for us.

Well if your homeboy insists on taking slaps at CUSA then you can expect this sort of thing.
