Don't you just love what college football is becoming? 03-banghead

No.

Do you guys remember the day that the joy of college football was that you were doing more than rooting for a uniform since the pro players went places depending on the MARKET......and therefore I for one and I am sure a good many others just fell in love with a tad more loyalty the college game........teams now might as well stand by the interstate and sell their wares to the highest bidder and climb in that truck then another....because of a better deal of course......now teams line up like this get what they can get and look for the next best deal......Money has corrupted all of sports now........I will still enjoy the games but with coaches switching and now teams switching leagues (I am not sure we should call them conferences any longer) who knows what the product will look like 10 years from now.

I can just see the new promos for conferences soon. (You know the ones are their game of the week.) They will just flash about 80 different team logos at you and say with a voice over " We are not to sure who our members are today but we are damn good and MAYBE BETTER TOMORROW.03-puke

NCAA four year moratorium and conference TV market decisions with schools chosen for how many Burger Kings there are in town.

Maybe fans could just vote on who would play that week.

The BCS top 5 conferences will own the world. Wall Street companies and banks will be borrowing from them in ten years.

Did anyone else see the blurb in the Arlington board minutes that the school would have gone to the Sun Belt in 2012 had the possibility been there.

I found that interesting...

Because you could say the same thing next year and the year after and so on and so forth. There is a playoff next year every year.

If the invite were for 2014 or 2015 then you could still be invited now and you would not be leaving the SoCon until July 2014 and therefore would still have your shot at a championship in 2012. No different than Charlotte, right?

The waiver gives them two years to continue to vote as an FBS and be an FBS league, it does not exempt new members from complying with transition rules.

The NCAA hates lawsuits. Everytime they lose, which they usually do, it cuts into their power and control. Judges use a lawsuit as an opportunity to punish what many view as a mafia type organization.

The NCAA will not risk losing a lawsuit over non BCS small dollar schools. They would just give them a waiver so that it would go away.

Very different than UNC-Charlotte.

UNC-Charlotte will be a startup independent FCS team in 2013 to transition to FBS in 2015. They will not be eligible for post season play at any point while in FCS.

Looking at the schedule they have they won't even qualify with enough D1 wins (if they can even win that many games) anyhow.

Not that it will come to it probably, but would love to see the NCAA defend itself for not enforcing their 15,000 rule with many schools, especially the Northern MAC schools.

Well at some point some of those schools really need to consider moving down a notch.

The rule basically doesn't exist because a school can "buy tickets" to meet the requirement by paying ticket fees to, you guessed it, itself to "meet" the requirement.

Nobody moves down because Div I sports are a cost center. You can go 2-10 yearly and still get more press by being FBS than you would get in FCS. As long as it keeps serving as a marketing vehicle for the school no way anyone moves down.

Idaho may move down to the Big Sky in FCS. FAMU announced going to FBS then didn't. A few years ago didn't just about the entire Southland Conference move back down for many years? The NCAA was going to make the MAC move down but they threatened them with a law suit.

Within the next 5 years the NCAA will redo all of it's FBS criteria, the public outcry is just getting too loud for some sort of handle on the realignment mess.

It will be interesting to see what criteria they require to maintain FBS status and how they go about measuring that.

They may redo the legislation but it will be I pencil. The fear of a lawsuit and of losing tax exempt status overrides all of these decisions. That's why the waiver was created. There is no problem the NCAA doesn't have a waiver for.

they saw the more compact footprint of the sbc as making more sense than trying to align with the west coast and mountain states schools..uta used to be in a conf. with u-laf and stAte and ul-monroe and UNtexas..so there is some history there..
