I don't think Appy or JMU have ever had an invite anywhere. We now know that Charlotte did have an invite to the SB. It was publicly declined 2 days before the CUSA offer was accepted. If there was no exit fee to the SB and Appy had an invite to the SB then they are crazy if they don't accept it.

The only other FCS schools approached by CUSA were Delaware and JMU. That was mentioned in an article by Brett McMurphy several weeks back. So we know there was at least some initial interest for them. They didn't make the cut this go-around but might make the cut in the future. After looking closely, I like what Delaware has to offer.

The thread was moved to Smack because that is what it became. This is a CUSA board, a CUSA Smack board. You App fans are visitors here, so when you want to engage Charlotte fans, don't be surprised when it winds up in the Smack forum. Also, moderators don't give up their fandom simply because they're moderators, we have a right to our opinions as well, and this thread should have been moved to Smack a long time before it was. All the mods here try to let the threads go on the main board as long as possible, but this one was well past its prime. If you consider the picture of your "airport" and its comparison to a similar airport smack, that's on you.

Are you even serious? That was 1995, were you trolling Marshall fans on a Delphi Listserv?

Believe me we didn't want the MAC, but that's all that was available and if I'm not mistaken (and I'm not) we proved our point once we were in.

We applied to CUSA in 1995 and 1996. We actually had the votes in 1995 until Denny Crum (Louisville basketball coach) started belly aching that we were not a good fit. That got Memphis and UAB to change their vote. We were extended a football only invite then. We should have taken the football only invite and put our olympic sports in the CAA or even ASUN.

Our big screw up was actually in 1992 though when VA Tech left the Metro standing at the alter and went to the BE. We were given a standing invite to the Metro at the time, and didn't take it. Who knows were our basketball program would be now if we would have accepted it.
