Coming out the woodwork
Last evening I went to the Chesapeake Jubliee for the first time in a decade or more. While walking around I decided to make note of all the university apparel. I saw the typical %'s of local schools. About 2-3 VT, a couple ECU, one CNU, a NSU, my friend wearing her Wesleyan lacrosse hoodie and a random Notre Dame on a kid. Oh, and of course a large number of beer branded shirts. What made me really excited was that I counted at least a dozen or more wearing ODU apparel. It sounds weird that I'd make any sort of deal out of that since ODU is a local school and it would make sense with all the recent news. But I don't think I've ever seen this much support locally in my entire life as a native of this area.

RE: Coming out the woodwork
The ODU brand has obviously been on a steady upwards trajectory in the 27 years that I've been in town.

But when it comes to the increase in local apparel (and I've noticed that as well), I think that most of the credit is due to the first-rate University Bookstore established 4 or 5 years ago over on Monarch Way. It's one of my reliable places to go anytime that I've forgotten some occasion and need a quick gift.

Agreed. For xmas I think most of what I got was ODU gear. I even have a gnome on the counter now.

Official merchandise sales is the most telling stat for a program's health and support. Much moreso than media market. Id like to see that used in regards to picking members for future expansion.

What is everyone's opinion on ODU students wearing apparel of our rivals?.The only non-ODU apparel I wear is from schools my siblings went to.

I am completely against it. Anyone wearing a Tech, UVA, JMU, or VCU shirt should be tarred and feathered!

Coming out the woodwork
I went to grocery store on Thursday, and it was full of ODU apparel. Including me & my new CUSA shirt.

The family spent our winter vacation in Orlando, Fla at Universal Resort. I saw people wearing ODU gear every day for 5 days at the parks; multiple ODU folks on at least 3 of those days.

RE: Coming out the woodwork
I went to beer fest in Norfolk today and saw at least 20 different people sporting ODU gear. While there were tons of folks at the event, ODU was the clear leader (and it wasn't even close) in college apparel worn. It's always nice to see fellow Monarchs off-campus.

Hmm, looks okay. I was talking about a legitimate vintage cap from the '90s. Not a remake.

Figured as much but these are the closest I've found online. I haven't seen any true vintage snapbacks at Lids or the ODU bookstore either.

No, I wouldn't expect to either. You generally have to buy those online, however I've never found one. Were there any ODU caps in the '90s? I can find one for just about every team aside from us.
