Ohan let them in and the first thing they would do is try to ban the hail Mary pass.

It's an interesting corner that Liberty has painted themselves into. Case study worthy.

No, it's about the institutions with which I want my university to associate. And I do not want it associated in any fashion with Liberty University. Not that I'm really worried - I have zero doubt that our administration would blackball Liberty, and I have zero doubt that the issue would never get that far down the alphabet without one of our conference brothers tossing out the blackball first.

No CUSA poster introduced the subject of Liberty University to this board. Your comrades came here touting your school, so you have no complaint if you receive scorn and ridicule in return.
Scorn and ridicule? Schools that stress religious beliefs should be banned from C-USA? It's market/money and what they bring to the conference that matters to me. I don't care how important their religious beliefs are to them. And as far as posting here, unless someone is being disrespectful, I welcome the opportunity to hear what they have to say. You'll never know what you might leard. 05-ban:patriot:

No offense, but if Liberty is the next best option for C-USA, then we are in almost as bad shape as the WAC.

It's not a matter of their religious beliefs. They can believe what they want. It's a matter of them trying to impose their theology into secular law. Notre Dame doesn't do that.

your objectivity is suspect. Liberty is not is a corner at all. CUSA Candidate? probably not, but not in a corner. The options are there with WAC, MAC, and SBC.

The reality is that we are a prepared and well managed athletics program no matter what you may think of our religious or political stances. This is an athletics conference, so it's about athletics and what Liberty Athletics can bring to the table.

That is all and good IF Liberty viewed athletics that way - but they don't - they view Athletics as an arm of the church - a way to promote the church, and the beliefs of the church.

Just look at your fellow posters - with taglines like "Champions for Christ"
and posts proclaiming that God has intended for Liberty to move to the highest levels.

You may want to separate Liberty's beliefs from athletic discussions, but Liberty University does not. You can't have it both ways - and can't try to force your beliefs down everyone's throats, but then want to take said beliefs off the table when it comes to conference affiliation.

You either stick by your beliefs, and understand that people will be offended by them, and you will NOT get invited to certain conferences because of them, or you give up your beliefs. Ball is in Liberty's court.

Liberty is unashamedly about Christ and what he has done for us. If that keeps us out of a conference so be it, but our mission is to be champions in ATHLETICS. We are not here to get into an FBS conference and schedule and then stop mid football game to pray and witness, we are here to play the games. Our beliefs do not hinder the games and we do not shove it down anyones throats. Ask NC State or Wake Forest of West Virginia if we shoved anything down their throats when we played them. The answer is no. We are here to compete, plain and simple. It should not offend you that our tagline is Champions for Christ, if it does than you get offended way too easily, if you want your tagline to be Champions for the potato monster, I don't care or Champions for evolution, you get the point, I dont care. Let's just play some ball!

I agree. Their religious beliefs will keep them out of here and any big conferences. Not many will want to be related to them.

I think youre pipe dreaming. And I dont mean that in a mean way or as a flame. Youre just not looking at this from the outside and seeing the big picture. The big picture is that at best youre another Virginia school in a town that ends in "burg" with a 19k seat stadium. Look at who the MACs last two additions were. Look who CUSA added from FCS. Look who the SBC has added from FCS. There is a pattern. Liberty neither matches the pattern nor brings enough to override their public image. And make no mistake that your public image is a problem because its the first thing people mention on every Liberty thread. In that sense, yes you may have gone up a river and fallen overboard with no Top 25 DMA life preserver.

I am sure USM would be accepting. We have a bunch of super realigious people. May I add they don't practice what they preach. We lead the country in teen pregnancy.

Liberty actually has a lot of potential for a market larger than any big city if they ever got themselves playing at a high level. BYU and their base would be desirable for any conference and there are more Christians than Mormons many times over... and they are less controversial. I don't understand why people want to bash Liberty.

When Liberty can win a football title, have a Heisman winner, and put 60k in their stadium every week then you will get the BYU treatment.

I figure, if they move up they will go to the MAC. (If the presidents are not prejudiced against a Christian school.)
They would not be a good fit for CUSA, at this time.

Liberty does not represent the views of most Christians

As in cult?

Not a cult but they are more conservative than the majority of prodestant sects and they don't represent Catholics or lds. You can be against the views of liberty u and not be antichristian

My view of them has always been that they might as well be called Rush Limbaugh University. They're sort of a clearance rack version of Washington and Lee, or maybe Ave Maria school of law after a head injury.

Like him or not, but there are millions of Rush Limbaugh listeners vs. tens of thousands of Southern Miss football fans (and I am not bashing USM, I have tons of respect for your program). There would be a lot of money made by adding Liberty with a Limbaugh endorsement. I am conservative politically, though I am a Catholic and don't agree with a lot of the evangelical line, just trying to look at it in a bigger picture.

Agree, just playing devil's advocate. CUSA just added 6 schools on potential alone and really went out on a longer limb that Liberty on a few of them without naming names IMO.

BYU isn't in a conference either and they only way they're gonna end up back in one is if they rejoin the MWC or get an invite to the Big East.
