Aging fan base - declining season ticket holders in football. Boring scheme they run. I believe they are on the decline in football.
In basketball - mediocre results year in and year out, little to no fan support, tiny arena.
Great endowment, but thats about it.
Agreed on all accounts. Most especially, the aging fanbase.

We have long since passed the point where that matters. If we decided to go to 16 (which I don't really want) the Delaware makes every bit as much sense if not more than any other candidate. State flagship, large market, good attendance, lots of money, pretty large enrollment, and fits nicely into the new eastern pod. However, I don't want to go past 14 in the near future. I wouldn't mind however seeing them go to the MAC. For too long there have been no non-AQ schools on the east coast, and if ECU is going to be stuck here and AQ games start getting tougher to schedule we are going to need some OOC games that have the potential to be good draws.
Agree 100%. No offense to anybody in CUSA but I think these FCS schools have a lot more potential than several current members of CUSA and more than some we've lost. It's tough for me to understand how somebody can be AGAINST adding a flagship university in the Philly market. It all boils down to whether or not a school is dedicated and some in CUSA simply are not and don't draw flies to their stadiums on top of that. Delaware, Charlotte, ODU, JMU would actually help ECU and Marshall make money and expand our stadiums. I guess you've got to have a long term vision to see that.
Thinking 5-10 yrs down the road, a part of me would like to see all the Texas schools + Tulsa go to the MWC. Add.....Georgia State, FAU, Delaware & Umass to the East and Arkansas State to the west and you've got a pretty solid "East of Texas" conference.
Throw in Liberty for good measure... voila solid!

I think we are starting to see the core of Holland's dream east coast non-AQ league getting up to the FBS ranks. Could eventually happen, although I don't see it stretching to the central time zone if we did it. Just go straight up the east coast
FAU
FIU
GSU
ECU
Charlotte
ODU
Marshall
Delaware
UMASS
Several others possible like JMU and App depending on the numbers you wanted. Could be a possible league 10-15 years from now.

I understand why you want this....but if the above was the setup it would not be very fair to USM.
I'm sure they like playing you guys too, but traveling to Delaware when Tulane is 90 mi away?

UAB (academics, basketball & market), USM (overall athletic program), LA Tech (academics & football) and Tulane (baseball, academics & Market) are to vaulable to not include them IMO. This "East of Texas" league would primarily consist of Tier 1 universities also. Ohio could be a good addition as well.

I like that setup.
That IS a nice setup. I would love that.
**** that, move Tulane and USM to the East and add two new West Schools.
I would not be against that either, but whom would you suggest? Texas State? Arkansas State? New Mexico State? A Mountain West team? There are not too too many to choose from that fit what CUSA is looking for. Besides, I figured you guys would be happy with more teams on the east coast being added. It makes for closer games. Not ALL Southern Miss fans agree, but I know a very large number like the idea of playing LaTech every year. The rivalry goes back much further with us than with you guys. Anyway, just a thought.
I tell you what... get Houston and SMU to come back. That would work! lol
LOL. I agree. Not very probable, but crazier things have happened...

I don't really see the point in going east of Texas if we are going all the way to Louisiana anyway. Texas is too big and valuable to give up if we are still stretching out that far west. It should either be an east coast league or just keep C-USA as is, because it's gotten much better in terms of geography.
