RE: Baze
If you don't get picked in the first round, it's almost better to go undrafted. The second rounders get one-year unguaranteed contracts and are stuck with that franchise from the jump, no matter how many guys are in front of them at their position. Whereas the undrafted guys have a choice and should select the team that offers the most opportunity for PT. Baze and Coop will be on a summer league team with a chance to shine and make a club. It's just up to them and their agents on making the best decision.

RE: Baze
Cash Cab Cooper say he had a good workout with the Lakers. Said their style of play matches the offense that Blaine runs, things like the high screens.

RE: Baze
Baze will be part of the OKC Thunder (Orlando) and Golden State Warriors (Las Vegas) for the NBA Summer Leagues. (he retweeted his agent saying this)
Oklahoma City summer league schedule (times eastern)
- 7/9 OKC vs. Boston 1 PM
- 7/10 OKC vs. Indiana 1 PM
- 7/11 OKC vs. Detroit 1 PM
- 7/12 OKC vs. Brooklyn 1 PM
- 7/13 OKC vs. Utah 8 AM
- The Orlando league is not open to the public. Stats will be available somewhere on the Magic's website.
Golden State summer league schedule (all times eastern):
- 7/13 Golden State vs. LA Lakers 8 PM
- 7/14 Golden State vs. Denver 6 PM
- 7/18 Golden State vs. Miami 10:30 PM
- 7/20 Chicago vs. Golden State 8:30 PM
- 7/21 Golden State vs. New Orleans 6:30 PM
- all of these games should be on NBA TV, 65% live.
These games are open to the public, tickets are $25 a day. Vegas anyone?

Bummer he didn't get drafted. You really have to wonder how much that public arrest that became national news affected his ability to get drafted.
It's possible it didn't and he simply just wasn't going to be a first or second round pick as a mainly defensive first player, but there is a chance that someone did like him enough to draft him but figured because of the bad press, they would just wait til FA to sign him afterwards.
Anyways, prove em all wrong Kent, tear up the summer league and hopefully you will get picked up for next year so I actually have even a shred of a reason to pay attention to the NBA for a change.

RE: Baze
I think the stress fracture had a lot more to do with it than the arrest. He just wasn't the same last year, even at the end when he was scoring a lot more. No chase down, size up blocks and very few dunks.

RE: Baze
So many big guys entered the draft after Baze and Burgess were projected late 2nd round that they got pushed off.
Really though, that was the best thing that could've happened. Now both agents have set them up with teams that were most interested. I wouldn't be surprised if both don't outplay some of the 2nd rounders and make it in. No question that both are capable. But they will have to go hard. The talent level around them will be CAA x 3.

RE: Baze
With the NBA Draft only having 2 rounds and half the second round going to pick Europeans who may never play in the NBA, I don't think the DUI effected Baze. More the broken foot slowing him down and being from a mid major.

RE: Baze
So I have looked up every game so far to see how Baze has been doing in summer league. So far he hasn't had any minutes. It keeps saying DNP coaches decision. Does anyone know why he isn't playing?

Slight Knee injury. The OKC opportunity is over, they filled out their roster with Hollis Thompson.
Baze is now in Vegas with the Warriors I believe.

RE: Baze
Hasn't played yet...21 guys on GS roster. Maybe they've split up and some will get more minutes tomorrow.
I just want him to get a shot. And maybe one of those rundown blocks.

RE: Baze
Doesn't look good for Baze. You can't get a spot on an NBA roster if you can't even get onto the floor during a summer league game.
That balky knee very well might cost him a spot in the NBA, he just isn't the same explosive above the rim player he was before that happened.
How many times did he truly dunk on or over people this past year? Not very many at all. Without his athleticism and jumping ability, he just isn't the same player. He can't block the shots he used to get, he can't dunk on guys the way he used too and he probably isn't a good enough shooter or strong enough to guard the 2 in the NBA, guys like Lebron and Kobe.
Sorry Baze, it's probably the NBADL or Europe for ya. All because he played in a stupid summer league game and tore his knee (pretty sure that is where it happened right?) Dumb, dumb, dumb.
