Is George Mason going to end up in the basketball conference? I doubt that.

no, it means the A-10 is going to be cherry picked by the bball schools that split and GM doesnt want to be caught in a skeleton of a conference

I'd say that's a pretty fair theory, but it could be that they are just afraid of that possibility, not that it's actually going to come to fruition here soon.

RE: Mason staying CAA means a BE split is coming
So many things happening all at once.

1. MWC stays at 10 while CUSA expands to 14.
2. Idaho looking for home in Big Sky and probably downgrading football or are they?
3. Boise hasn't "officially" told the MWC they are leaving.
4. Marinatto is all but fired.
5. George Mason decides to stay in CAA.
6. ODU isn't sure what they want to do.
7. Louisville to Big 12 swirling all over the place.
8. Big 12 / ND all sports but football a standing offer.
9. CUSA finally adds some more Eastern teams and might jump to 16 or 18 (expecting a few to leave??)
10. BE is as dysfunctional as an entity as it was before the defectors jumped and new schools accepted.
11. BE TV contract maybe not what they thought it would be.
12. ACC and Rutgers / UConn scenarios.

Either major conspiracy or read between the lines.

And a 400,000 student enrollment. Thats amazing. AND since they have multiple campuses in EVERY city they can claim every market in the country. Big East and C-USA will be all over that. Charlotte hasn't played a down of football yet either and has 5% of that enrollment and they took them and they don't even have a stadium like UofP's !

University of Phoenix to the Big East?

You know what, Pony? I have led the charge many times in cracking on ECU's woody for the Big East and, more specifically, in their fans' inability to grasp how TH's bumbling, fumbling efforts at the feet of ThrainedGeese and Marinara has sullied their school's image. But for a fan of a school that got handed what ECU has brazenly begged for and tried their damnedest to earn on the field, you have bronze bocce balls to pull a line like that. I don't even have a dog in this hunt, but that's incredibly distasteful.

besides, it may not have occurred to you yet but any fan of a school that was "lucky" enought to get that NBE invite has much more critical things to be worried about right now. The past week or so should be reason enough to cut out the crowing.

Travel partners for SDSU!!

Screw you Syracuse and your crappy ol' CarrierDome - Big East now has a domed stadium with a retractable roof, and real grass that slides in and out of the stadium.

You can blame most of that on our psychotic fanbase (and I mean that in the best possible way). He was getting absolutely bombarded with emails, phone calls about that $hit non-stop and thus the VERY public application. Seriously... you have no idea. The man was under A LOT of pressure to get us out of CUSA, no offense to UAB. I think that was before WVU got out. Our fanbase wanted and some still do want in that league BADLY because it symbolizes something that it really isn't anymore.

When WVU left, the Big East lost a lot of luster to me personally but if it survives we'd still accept an invitation.

And for the record....we've applied for the Big East 3 times. 1991, 2003 and 2011.

Just a note:

According to the Urban Dictionary.

BAFOON

Fool, idiot, one who pretends to know something but does not. A cross between a baboon and a babbling idiot.

And yes, Buffoon is in there also.

Says the man from the school that only got invited because they are close to UH.

HA! You and SDSU should form a "Little Brother" club.

RE: Mason staying CAA means a BE split is coming
I don't think George Mason staying in the CAA has anything to do with the Big East. Maybe they just want to be in a conference filled with fellow public schools instead of a league dominated by Catholic schools. I mentioned this several months ago but people just shouted me down by saying the A-10 is superior and they would be stupid not to go.

The other thing no one has thought about is that maybe George Mason plans to start football, as well as Virginia Commonwealth, and staying in the CAA makes that task a lot easier. In a world where schools are prostituting themselves all over the country for money, I am glad some people still have loyalty and vision, which George Mason is showing.
