“I think we’ve got a very strong conference with 10,” Tech’s third-year coach said. ”We won’t take a back seat to anybody. But I kind of like having divisional championships … like we had before, and then a championship game.”

Such a format ” gives you more than one winner,” Tuberville said, adding that he thinks it gives ”more schools a chance to have a successful season.”

Regardless, the coach said he thinks the Big 12 will stay with 10 programs for the forseeable future.

“I think we’re going to be with 10 for awhile,” he said. “And we’re all on the same page with that. Unless there were some people we thought would enhance our 10-team league … I think we’re going to be in this league for awhile.”

can anyone make a statement that doesn't go in circles?

All signs indicate the Big12 will stay at 10. There is really no valid reason for them to expand unless they get Notre Dame, Florida State etc....Louisville and Cincy won't cut it.

I think the new Big12 Commissioner sealed the deal when he said he likes the 10 team Round Robin format in both football and basketball.

I know the Big XII has a slightly more TV money per school right now than the ACC but the perception is still there that they are the sick man of the Big 5 conferences.

The move of WVU to the Big XII though was GREAT for them because at best WVU is nothing more than a Clemson and cannot carry a Big 5 conference by themselves.

When they find a 12th Louisville is gone. Like anyone listens to Tommy.

Meh. I'm a firm believer that no school from the ACC is going to the Big 12, but I wouldn't take any quotes from coaches to mean anything.

I can agree Frank that coach's speak doesn't mean much these days since they are the last to know anything. Maybe this is fact, maybe it isn't. We'll know for sure by July what the Big XII is really going to do.

I'm guessing that's the problem in a nutshell. They would take Louisville but don't want to stop at 11 and can't find a suitable 12th. None of the remaining Big East schools add sufficient value; no ACC school wants to move; Notre Dame won't give up independence unless forced to do so by the new playoff format; and BYU comes with too much baggage.
