Did Louisville really tell the Big East BOD they were leaving?
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketba...unresolved

Quote:Multiple sources with direct knowledge of their situations told ESPN.com that Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich told the Big East board of directors that the Cardinals want to be in the Big 12 or the ACC, opting for transparency by making members aware of his school's true intentions.

No invitation has arrived as of yet and the only likely one would be from the Big 12 if new commissioner Bob Bowlsby sees the need to recommend to his board that an expansion to 12 teams is in the league's interest.

Wait, what???

Did Jurich really have the stones to tell the BOD that they're officially looking elsewhere? Can anyone else confirm?

Since I graduated from UCF, the Knights, of course! I grew up literally next to OSU's campus and took a few classes there, but my uber-loyalty is with the Black and Gold.

I would laugh my ass off if The Big 12 grabbed 2-4 teams and none of them started with the letter L.

Louisville is a near lock. Probably for the 2013 or 2014 season at that I bet. Beyond that it could be BYU, Rutgers, Cincy, UConn, USF...

I don't see the ACC extending an invite any time soon.

<tinfoil hat>

After the Big 12 adds Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and USC, then Louisville will have many conferences to choose from.

RE: Did Louisville really tell the Big East BOD they were leaving?
I just copied my post from The Big East Board:

This from the article.....

Multiple sources with direct knowledge of their situations told ESPN.com that Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich told the Big East board of directors that the Cardinals want to be in the Big 12 or the ACC, opting for transparency by making members aware of his school's true intentions.

...is not new information.

In December Tom Jurich told the Louisville newspaper that he had informed President Genshaft, USF's President and Chair of The Big East's President's committee this.

This is the way Jurich does business. Everything is up front. When we left CUSA he did the same thing.

There have been reports that the deal is already done as part of a promise to Senator McConnell. Not sure if that is true or not. If Jurich did tell the BOD what Katz quoted recently, it may just be a matter of time.

Well, if I read news of an ass bouncing down the highway, at least I'll know what happened... 07-coffee3

I'm not sure it's super newsy that he told the other schools who were looking to leave he, too, was trying to leave.

I don't believe you will find many people in our church or community that would disagree with you. Tom, Terilynn and the twins are all great people. Don't know his son that well as he was off playing ball for the Braves orgnization but he seems to be a fine young man as well.

I am glad someone outside of Louisville noticed. +3 for the kind words.

Would you rather we left without notice? I remember being very upset with the way Pitt and Syracuse handled the situation. If the league negotiates the next TV deal without a clear understanding of our intentions it could really screw up the process.

Thanks. That sounds more like Katz's MO - to report old news as something that happened recently, more likely to stir the pot.

Where the heck have you been? WVU & UL practically went into a media and political war to get into the B12. UL even had Kentucky politician (Mitch McConnell) selling them to the B12.

Oh I remember that very well. I was trying to confirm that Katz's report was of something recent, but apparently it's not.

If Louisville wants out for 2013 and doesn't announce soon - they'll be in the same less than a year notice that WVU was in and we all know how much that cost...

Yes, they' have to sue the conference just like WVU did. But apparently UL has the cash to do it. The only difference is that now the exit fee is $10 M, whereas WVU's was only $5 M, so maybe UL has to pay $25 M, but that would have to be negotiated.
