RE: Appalachian State confirms talks with Conference USA...
Actually this is just a rehash of the letter AppSt sent out this week. The letter reads much differently than the article and refers to their lack of market specificly and their attempts to show otherwise.

Just a slow news day. CUSA talks with AppSt are over for now. More of an attempt to apppease a fanbase unhappy with a potential SunBelt move.... Read the last 2 paragraphs of the article.. pretty much spells out an invite is not coming in the near future.

I cannot imagine CUSA wanting another team in NC...I would think if we go fishin for and FCS school in the region it would be JMU. If ODU, for some off the wall reason, declines I think JMU will be next in line if CUSA states in this region with another selection.

Yeah I wouldn't be pleased with yet another FBS team in NC either. Smoke and mirrors probably just App trying to get a better deal out of the Sunbelt.

Charlie Cobb is a pathetic excuse for an AD. Back to the SoCon for them.

Just piss poor journalism. It's as they didn't read the letter they referenced.

I love all these 1-AA and lesser programs that are getting cranky because they cant just move right into CUSA. The Sun Belt or the MAC or the soon to be WAC is a place for a 1-AA or lower to move into the 1-A world.

Not a fan of them, nor stadiums with a built in track. Haha

We are already going to have issues with the perception of this conference being weaker now with the additions we just made... we DO NOT need to make it worse by adding another FCS team (especially one that brings little to the table).

I can confirm that this article is not 100% accurate. AD's and presidents talk all the time but spinning this into a way of getting the hopes of App fans up is simply wrong and its not true. Any remote chance that App had as a possibility to CUSA was closed when Charlotte was introduced.

Confirm how? I didn't see any confirmation other than opinion.

C-USA is headed for 16 schools...BB let that possibility slip at the press conference in Denton. The conference is obviously talking to more potential members...but talk does not guarantee admittance.

At the press conference in Denton BB stated that there had been internal discussion of "possibly" going to 16 teams at some point down the road. He did not give a timeline of that and you can guarantee that with the BE now in flux they will be in no hurry.

Screw Appy State. No way should they be considered.

Only positive about the Goons from Boone is the Daniel Boone Inn and the little ham biscuits.

RE: Appalachian State confirms talks with Conference USA...
I think Appy would be a great addition to the conference. I would have actually preferred them over Charlotte. They already have a solid/respected football program, great attendance, and history.

I don't think adding 1-AA power houses really hurts perception of a conference. Its more adding teams who have never played before such as Charlotte and UTSA, thats what hurts the perception of the conference.

Note: I'm not knocking the schools I mentioned, doesn't really change my perception of the league. I was just more talking about the national perception to the average fan.

Adding ANY FCS school will hurt the perception of our conference... Hopefully recruits don't start lumping us in with the MAC and Sunbelt.
