Kind of interesting- big thing from this is Bowlsby is starting on June 15- and not July 1. That's big because a lot of leagues have deadlines of June 30 for leaving conference the following year.

I just don't see a radical shift in the Presidents' view on expansion in a two-week window. Those are the ones with the power in that regard, not just the commish.

There won't be any major shift on expansion, Bob. The decision has probably already been made, Bowlsby is probably aware of the decision and what it is, and public statements made at this time mean little. Everyone always denies a move right up until the minute it happens...

Unless they had shifted already- but wanted to have the new commish in place to make the invites.

Neinas said he was leaving NO LATER than July 1. They simply brought the new guy in when he was available.

This is almost certainly what has happened. Although I think they've been in favor of further expansion for a while now.

Why would that really matter? Neinas was interim commish with both TCU and WVU being invited and they didn't seem to be bothered by an "interim" tag. My point is that expansion isn't driven by the commissioner, it's still up to the Presidents. If they don't want to expand, they won't; if they do, they will.

This fits nicely with the 2-week notice that most conferences require. Oh, wait....
