I wish it had come with a Merry Melodies or Looney Tunes title screen, to be honest. 03-lmfao

I doubt our basketball is more valuable than either, on a per-school basis. Certainly not more than the B1G's.
But he didn't say that, did he?

I think he did, otherwise what he said wouldn't have made any sense.

In most conferences like the B1G and PAC their value is almost entirely in their FB games. But unlike those the Big Easts BBall is more valuable to tv partners. While FB drives the train in those conferences the BBall actually raises the value of the conference as a whole. Much more than most of the other power conferences.

According to reports the BE contract with Boise states at least 70% of the tv money from the upcoming negotiations goes to the football schools.

I assume this was arrived at looking at other conference contracts and the value tv places on football regular season over basketball regular season ratings.

The basketball money is in the ncaa tourney tv rights. But by the time the ncaa gets done tithing it out several hundred (schools) ways, it's a nice check, but similar to or less than BCS bowl money.

I don't think it says that. I think it says IF the BE joint media contract doesn't funnel at least 70% to the FB schools, then Boise's exit fee drops from $5M to $1M. But it doesn't GUARANTEE the 70%.

I only saw it once, so I could be wrong, but I think that's right.

Mike DeCourcy's Marinatto article is worth a read too.

Very good read. That's why I'm hoping we pick someone not part f the BE establishment as we did with M

Well, that or someone who was part of the Big East brass, but also has experience outside of the Big East, like Kevin Weiberg. Though of course, I'd rather have someone who will do what's best for the league itself, regardless of where they come from.

No you are correct. It simply gives Boise a reduced exit fee if the split dips beneath that threshold.

At first, I thought it was the Time Tunnel, from the old 1960s TV show...
