2,200,000/(35,000*6)=10

Unless the avg ticket price to watch utsa is 10, I think they gave away a lot of tickets

As was already stated those were NET REVENUE after the alamodome and city got their share and not to include thousands of student tickets. As I already showed the ticket special was for 675 tickets max per game

ok, all this bs... you guys should really learn about accounting... How much did you pay out for the use of the alamodome???? 50k a game fair?

2,500,000/(35,000*6)=11.9

unless you paid over 200k, it really isn't going to make a difference.

say you paid 200k, it would be... 3,400,000/(35000*6)=16 a ticket

and this is assuming what you guys say is true, and utsa would report revenue after they paid out operating expense, makes no financial reporting sense, but hey whatever

BFD...did you see the dreck that UTSA played last year at home? NE Oklahoma, Minot State, Murray St, etc...even if they had 10,000 paying customers that is friggin impressive.

It's obvious there is no more reason to waste your time arguing over what amounts to silly propaganda Cokermania. All we need to worry about is cashing the check. At least we have had a few valid points made here, like how are we going to sustain those numbers unless we put a good product on the field. Valid criticism and worth a discussion, but overall this free ticket business is silly and ridiculous. They'll believe what they want to believe. I'm not wasting any more of my time on this ridiculous board, its a beautiful day out. However, I'm guessing those in El Paso out to stay in doors so they don't get hit by a stray bullet out of Mexico.

It doesnt matter if we gave away 10,000 tickets or a few hundreds, at least we were able to keep our fans in the stands and keep them coming. Some UNT fans like to take jabs at UTSA, please look in the mirror before talking. You are averaged just over 18k, with a brand new stadium, 3k more than what you need to average to become an FBS team, maybe yall should start giving away free tickets also.

What UTSA has done so far is simply incredible. I am friends with the director of bands, who was formerly the director of bands at UCF. He said he was sold on the job and following along with the Roadrunners first season through the directors Facebook page/photos it's been simply amazing to see.

UTSA is going to be one of the premiere teams in Conference USA in no time.

RE: The myth of UTSA's supposed ticket "give away"
A fellow Runner fan (Valley Runner) did some research on UNT and UTEP and found this.

I did some research on UNT and UTEP's supposed history and it isn't exactly great. Did you know that UNT was demoted to D-II for some shady dealings within the athletic department. They then became members of the Southland until 1995 when some large donors bought up large blocks of seats to increase the average attendance at their football games. They got in the SBC and they went to one football bowl, the New Orleans Bowl with a losing record. They hired Todd Dodge as coach and he went 6-37 before he was fired. Thats some pretty good history. Other than SMU who got the boot for one year, UNT was actually demoted to D-II. Hilarious.

UTEP's football history isn't exactly primo. Since 1936 they went to the Sun Bowl 8 times. I wonder how they got the invite? Their last win was in 1967. They also went in 1988, 2000, and 2004, all loses. And those guys are talking sh*t about UTSA. They should look at their own house before blurting out crap.

Maybe UTSA got fans to come to the stadium by giving away free tickets with a bucket of chicken.

That's fine.

There are plenty of FBS schools who can't get people to come to the stadium if you gave them a free ticket AND a bucket of chicken.

You will have opportunity to prove it on the field... In the meantime, settle down tiger and have a chicken wing or drumstick, or you'll end up busting an eye vessel from raising your blood pressure so high.

There's only one problem. It's false. If you go back and read my original post most of the 36k sat in lower bowl due to capacity of alamodome. The discounted tickets were for upper deck of which they only opened one side for most games due to 65k capacity.

If we're trying to find the average cost of tickets for lower bowl seating, you've been neglecting to account that 1/4th of the stadium is student sections, and that the upper levels were only 12 bucks counting ticketmaster's cut.

And then every student can buy up to 4 tickets at 10 bucks each for friends/family. And if that 2million+ figure accounts for season tickets or not, does it account for VIP/charter seating? Family pack deals? Corporate ticket purchases (RedMcCombs bought 1 thousand tickets)?

One of the things I learned the hard way when I started posting here:

I talked a little smack about our upcoming season, and how we were going to beat a certain team like a red-headed step-child. Little did I know, a couple of posters were saving my "quotes", which were posted after we got our butts handed to us during the season.

Since then, I try not to give anyone poster material anymore by telling them how UTEP is gonna WAC (03-lmfao) em.

What do you guys wanna claim as ticket revenue? first, you say 2,200,000, then you say that includes rent. are you guys including parking revenue, snack revenue and beer sales in that number too? Come on now, I know houston isn't too far from san antonio, but enough with the enron techniques
