Yes Panama, no schools around your precious school to the SB, we understand. Especially GaSo.
By the way, I live in South Charlotte and my son goes to school in Boone, he makes it in 1hr 20 minutes and drives by the Charlotte airport. Don't know where anyone gets two hours, must be grandpa driving Miss Daisy.

I'm not sure if the MAC has offered here or not but it sounds like both ASU and JMU are prepared to declare intentions next week.

You cant use an unsubstantiated post on another part of the same site to make a point. Space time may fold in on itself.

Well, Boise St. is in the Big East. I think it already has.

RE: App State AD: Time to Change Strategy in Conference Realignment
Couple things about App...didnt App AD say that CUSA was not the right fit because of travel concerns? Never understood that comment because the only other options were the SBC which has the same footprint or the MAC which is even further than both. I wonder if he's just speaking to speak to answer to those pissed about being passed by Georgia State, Charlotte and probably Old Dominion.

As well...App is not really near Asheville or even worse Greenville SC. Lets be real here...you can get to Charlotte or Winston Salem fairly easily and that's what they should focus on.

Finally that article mentioned App championing their facilities....in reality ALL of the added schools to CUSA have or will have better overall facilities than App does and I have yet to see App's long term plan to get to 35 or 40K in football and get rid of that FCS track around their football field. App has really overstated their facilities angle.

App has released plans to add seats to the north end zone and add a third tier to the east stands. App's AD said the additional revenue streams with CUSA would cover any increase in travel costs. Your post lacks quite a few errors regarding App.

App is likely a fit for the Sun Belt. CUSA took programs with no football yet because they were in cities. As a SBC fan, can we have ECU and USM? They probably wouldve been passed over at this time by CUSA.

WVU teams fly out of a small airport about 25 or 30 miles south of Morgantown and not out of Pittsburgh which is about an hour or so away
Tri-Cities (Tennessee) is the closest to Boone (less than an hour as the crow flies, well over an hour with the roads) but with limited connection cities (Atlanta, Charlotte, Detroit, Cincinnati). Asheville (NC) has a lot of connections (two hours), as does the Triad Airport (Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point) and mainly four lane roads. Greenville (SC) has Southwest flights and really isn't that far.

It's 100 miles to Boone from the Greensboro airport, all four lane and all but about 20 miles of which is expressway quality roads with only 7 traffic lights from the airport terminal to Boone city limits. The drive takes less time than my daily commute in the DC area. The distance is no big deal. Now when I made the drive to App from Mom and Dad's in Greensboro when I was in school it was a big deal, but then it was about half two lane roads with a lot of mountain curves.

RE: App State AD: Time to Change Strategy in Conference Realignment
My understanding is that for the sports played in the winter that teams generally avoid Tri-Cities because of the possibility that snow could prevent a team from reaching Boone to play or to miss their flight home after the game. I believe App plays the first portion of their home baseball season in Hickory because of the weather risks.

Airports can be a problematic issue.

Arkansas State is moving toward flying charters out of Walnut Ridge (25 miles away) in football rather than Memphis (75 miles) but it is unlikely that opposing teams will follow that course of action because of the availability of hotels.
