How would that be "doing it right"? You could easily end up with a situation in which far better teams are left out in favor of weak conference champs. And Notre Dame left out too.

Much better to use the top 4 regardless of who is conference champ or not.

It should be Top 4 Conference Champions ......... or Top 3 Conference Champions + Top Independent (if the top independent is ranked higher than champion #4) ......... no manipulative set-asides which are really aimed at ensuring that the media vote the SEC an extra slot every flipping year.

Big surprise...

This year the SEC would've had two of the four teams, with the Big 12 and the Pac 10 having the other two. I wonder how the Big 10, ACC, and Big East would feel about that.

Nope, it should be the top four conference champions. With that setup, it would've been the SEC, Big 12, Pac 10, and Boise State--who will be joining the Big East.

Final BCS standings before the bowls

1. LSU
2. Alabama
3. Oklahoma St.
4. Stanford
5. USC
6. Oregon
7. Arkansas
8. Boise St.
9. South Carolina
10. Wisconsin
11. Virginia Tech
12. Baylor
13. Michigan
14. Oklahoma
15. Clemson
16. Georgia

We know you hate the Big East, but your shtick is getting old.
