Anyone who has a better background in history able to tell me what they did to rectify that inflation? Did they just switch to a new currency? Issue new higher currency bills?

Just stated a fact, and that doesn't rebut it.

I have a hard time understanding conservatives' paranoia over inflation. We're not 1980's Argentina or 1920s Weimar Germany. What is the big deal about 3% inflation? it destroys accumulated wealth while being indifferent to earned income. That's great for 99% of us.

The the deficits of the last few years clearly haven't been impacting inflation, which has been holding pretty darn steady at a good 2-3% clip



I also find it pretty amusing that Republicans are mad about entrenched interests and old union contracts guaranteeing $X/hr or whatever for people who are not worth it yet hate inflation despite this being the most likely solution to address their concerns.

New Currency and then revaluation. Also helped that they were no longer spending more than three quarters of their GDP on military anymore either as they were from 1914-19.

Inflation is acceptable if wages rise with it. However, that hasnt been the case for 20 years.

The monetary law of August 30, 1924 permitted exchange of each old paper 1,000,000,000,000 Mark note for one new Reichsmark, equivalent in value to one Rentenmark.

Eventually, some debts were reinstated to partially compensate those who had been creditors. A decree of 1925 reinstated some mortgages at 25% of face value in the new Reichsmark (effectively 25,000,000,000 times their value in old marks) if they had been held 5 years or more. Wages tend to be sticky but they have been keeping up with inflation decently.

I figured something like that, we're always taught what happened to their currency but oddly enough, never taught how they rectified it.
