Script or Block Pitt? Mustard Yellow or Gold?
Since Clairton decided to start the thread on Heinz I felt it my duty to create the other classic Pitt debate thread: Script or block? Mustard or gold?

I'll just start by saying I am a heavy script lean. I think that our best uniforms were the script style and I would prefer that we go back to that logo for football full time. The helmet was distinctive and I really liked that about it.

I like our current uniforms but I don't like our helmet. I just don't think that the block Pitt logo looks good on the gold helmet for some reason and I really don't appreciate the drop shadowing on the logo. Perhaps if we were offered a better block logo I would prefer it even to script, however, that has yet to be seen.

As far as colors go, I do like our old scheme. At the same time, if we were to bring the script logo back into circulation and put it on our current uniforms I would be happy. I think it would go well with what we have going right now.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Script on our current scheme. If I'm not mistaken Palko used it during the Senior Bowl a few years back and it looked splendid.

Personally if they do change the uni's again I hope its back to the script. I wouldn't mind using the block for the dawn of time rather than switching it up every 4-5 years. Anything is better than that dinocat or dinobeagle or whatever the hell they used a few years back. Seemed like a direct ripoff of the Carolina Panthers.

A benefit of returning to mustard is it matches the seating. It looks nicer when everything matches. Plus if there isn't a sellout, it creates the illusion of there being more people. Syracuse needs to get orange seating, too.

any chance Pitt goes back to the '76 national championship uni's when you join the ACC? It would be an opportune time to "awaken the echos" (to quote a non-conference school).

I agree with the script and the mustard with royal blue. Gives Pitt their own distinct look without looking like a carbon copy of a Notre Dame Uni.

Nice to see that we can have this conversation on this board without a bunch of 25 year old hot heads being internet tough guys!

Sadly, I'm 99% confident the answer to this is no. Our current AD is the one who changed the colors and logos to begin with and we don't even get a yearly throwback game with the old logo.

This whole topic is a big divide in our fanbase. It seems to me like more people than not prefer the old logo to what we have now. I don't know if that's just the loudest horns being heard or if there truly is a majority who supports the older style.

Anyhow, it seems like our current uniforms are here to stay for the foreseeable future. That's not necessarily a bad thing, either, because the uniforms Adidas made for us were absolutely atrocious in my opinion. If we just stick with what we have now we should be in decent shape.
