The real reason for most hunting "accidents."

It's really sad that people are making jokes about this. She could've died because her boyfriend did something stupid.

I wonder if the boyfriend has ever attended a hunter education course? Too many city boys don't, then things like this happen.

In Alabama, everybody that was born after a certain date, might be 1985 but unsure, that wishes to get a hunting license does need to have proof of passing a hunter education course.

RE: Species identification
I actually took one while living in Pennsylvania, was surprised that there were people both male and female 14-70 years of age there to take the course.

More people should take such courses.
Just like watching a NASCAR race is not a substitute for drivers ed, and playing backyard football as a kid doesn't qualify you to play in the Superbowl. Watching 'Outdoors with Archie Phillips' will not teach you hot to be safe outdoors.

I was born in 1983 and I remember having to take the hunter education class.

Might be 1980. I'd have to look it up.

Aha!

Successfully completing an approved hunter education course is mandatory for all non-supervised hunting license buyers born on or after August 1, 1977, except APOST certified law enforcement officers employed in the state, active duty U.S. Military personnel and Alabama residents who are active members of the U.S. National Guard.
