OT- Pat Summit steps down
Just saw that Pat Summit is stepping down as coach of Tennessee.

Don't think especially after Coach K, Boehim, Calhoun on the mens side, and Auriema/VanderVeer on the womens side- we'll ever see coaches again of that type. The career at 1 school type guys. It's really the end of an era.

I agree Steve. Its sad to see the coach's that held only 1 position go one by one. Lets not forget the Bobby Bowden's and JoePa's of the world as well.

I'd prefer to forget about child rape enabler Joe Paterno. Summitt doesn't deserve to be compared to garbage like that.

Muffett McGraw has been the women's basketball coach at Notre Dame for 25 years.

She has a national championship trophy (2001) to her credit and has had the Irish in the last two national championship games.

She did coach five years at Lehigh before coming to ND, but I would put her in the "career at one school" type coach.

She'll still be around the program. So it's not like she's going to totally disappear...

Pat Summit was a great coach. Tennessee has given her another position to help continue the success of the women's basketball program. Lets keep her in our prayers concerning her battle with dementia/alzheimer.

Why even bring her up? The difference is gigantic. Pat is probably the best coach, men or women's in any sport ever.

Hey Scorpio:

A poster above me in the thread brought up the names of other coaches, not me.

I was pointing out one other coach that met his criteria, nothing more.

Have a nice day.

Pat Summit will still be around the program. The coaches and players are like her children to her, and I doubt she'll abandon them...
