Jank leaving ISU?
Rumors are that Jank may be leaving ISU to become the Coach In Waiting at SMU behind Larry Brown. Outside of the increase in pay, it doesn't make a lot of sense. ISU is on the verge of being a player in the MVC and making some noise while SMU is SMU and wasn't even close to being a player in CUSA and will be less of one in the Big East. If it's all about money, then he should do it. If it's about coaching and setting himself up for potential success and a better job, he should stay. His biggest setback at ISU has been his poor noncon scheduling. That appears to have been improving some. I guess we'll see what we see soon.

RE: Jank leaving ISU?
Apparently Jank signed a 5-year extension that upped his pay to about 477k a week or two ago and it was never reported on. Many believed that Jank only had 2 years left and wasn't given any kind of extension or job security. With the job security he now has, and the returning talent, I'd think he'd stay in Normal and continue to build ISU for another year or two and then get a better offer than SMU.

RE: Jank leaving ISU?
Still on-going with no end in site. Sounds like he's in negotiations with SMU but they're having trouble with wording and guarantees. I feel bad for the ISU program and fans. At this point, it's obvious that he wants to leave. That is not going to help his recruiting for next year if he ends up staying and may not help him with his team. Will they really lay it all out there for a coach that has shown that he doesn't want to be there? It's one thing to interview for jobs here and there. I believe Jank has interviewed for four and won't say if he's going or staying. This late in the game it really hurts his program. Not that he really cares about that though...

Jank has decided to leave ISU and go be an assistant coach for the next 5 years or so to an elderly d-bag at a horrible program. Within 10 years he'll either be out of coaching all together or in the Southland...

Hard to figure. SMU's program was/is horrible and will continue to be. I like LB, but geez, dude has made plenty of dough, needs to retire. AD will be fired, Jank will be out. Making a extra $300k worth it? Short term in my opinion. Win this year at Ill. St. and he would have been set.

Yeah. I'm not entirely sure how this thought process works. I know it's a pay increase for now as he's the highest paid assistant in the country. Not sure it's worth the risk though.
