Team wide slumps suck.

Hopefully this doesn't continue and they start knocking the ball around the park.

I'd also like to see Dombrowski work some of his magic in the next 3 months. It's pretty obvious that Leyland doesn't want to play Santiago full time at second base and Raburn is NOT the answer. We might as well shop for someone.

And we need bullpen help.

Once Fister returns, I think our starting rotation will be fine. Sherzer and Porcello will settle down and get into a groove....maybe not lights out...but they should be fine.

I am about to mute the game today. I can't stand Tim McCarver. Complete knucklehead.

Valverde sucks this year. We might need a new closer.

I wish we had a young flame thrower in AA ball. I doubt we are going to find anyone on the market who is worth anything.

We could trade valverde and get something good in return. A bunch of closers are getting hurt and it seems like everyone needs one. I bet multiple teams would roll the dice with valverde just because of last year. But, I don't think we have anyone in the pipeline.

Promote Michael torrealba right now. I'm done watching this crap.

Package valverde and delmon young and get a LF or second baseman in return.

This will never happen, but I can dream.

Fastball is 92-93 but can touch 95 with good movement.

Sharp slider and good curve.

He's 5'11" and 150 pounds.

Sign me up, no more closers with a bloated waist.

(I'm irritated with valverde double fold. He's on my fantasy team too)

RE: Tiger game thread
Saw a t-shirt at the Tiger game friday night that read "Teach me how to Fister". Worst part was, some 45 year old women a couple seats away from me asked the college kid where he got it from because she is in love with Doug Fister and thought it was cool. Needless to say, she didn't get the humor.

3 game series in Seattle starts tonight at 10 pm. I hate playing on the west coast. It's fairly impossible to stay awake for the entire game.

Good news is that Fister is starting tonight and we also luck out by skipping Felix Hernandez during our 3 game trip.

FYI-our on base percentage as a team is .311 this year. That's 17th in the whole league. Shockingly low for a team that is supposed to rake.

That may have been the worst save attempt I've ever seen.

We're 0-4 against the farking Mariners. Pathetic. If this keeps up there better be some real heat under Leyland's tail by the all star break

Gotta score more than 2-3 runs a game to win. Where are all the thumpers supposedly in this lineup?

RE: Tiger game thread
he trots raburn's .167 out there over and over again, while not having players like don kelly (.250) out there on a daily basis. Heck, we'd probably have Inge starting at 2nd still if DD didn't release him.

Raburn is migraine inducing. Another month and he'll start hitting .420 for the rest of the season. I cannot figure him out. Does he need 2-3 months of utter failure every year before he figures it out?

RE: Tiger game thread
Tigers once won AL and World Series championships with Ray Oyler (.135) and Don Wert (.200) playsing SS and 3B respectively.

So what's the problem with Raburn and Inge?

That was 44 years ago.

I think they used typewriters back then :)

(In 1968 the)
Quote:American League's collective slugging average of .340 remains the lowest since 1915 (when the game was still in the so-called dead-ball era), while the collective batting average of .231 is the all-time lowest.

So, you're comparing today's baseball with a season that was so inept when it came to hitting they lowered the pitchers mound from 15 to 10 inches and shrunk the size of the strike zone from the shoulders to the waist for the next season.

That's a useful comparison.
