We have more NC's than USF and UCF combined.
1 NC in FB and 1 NC in BBall...yeah you guys are a regular powerhouse!
Don't forget Syracuse's 11 National Titles in Lacrosse...which leads the nation in Div I.

What Syracuse needs is(are) friend(s) in the nyc media. Ones that will give them the coverage they desire. Until that happens it will be difficult to truly become "new york's team"

I'm pretty sure Army has more national championships in D-I football than Syracuse. Shouldn't that make them New York's team?
Army has 3; '44, '45, '46.
Syracuse has 1; '59.
We have more All-Americans, more all-time wins, higher all-time winning percentage, more bowl appearances, and more bowl wins...

You guys don't even play baseball. Thats what I really find funny about that sign. The school who doesn't play baseball advertises in a baseball stadium.

Most advertisers at any venue do not play that sport. The advertisers merely want to display their ad with a team they wish to be associated with.
Your school can advertise in Yankee Stadium. As can Rutgers and UConn.
Even Boise State can advertise there. They could even do a deal where they paint white pinstripes down their field...

Don't they have plenty of media alums? Though if you mean people with in a particular interest in SU in the local papers (not the NYT--the papers regular people read like the Post and the Daily News) I guess you're right...

Could be the previous poster never went to a professional sporting event at a major arena or stadium before....because if they had...they would realize that 99% of the other businesses advertising at the NBA game don't play basketball....and 99% of the other businesses advertising at a football game don't play football...and so on.
Guess some folks just don't get out much as others.

Seriously?
I wouldn't even call it ironic. So with your logic only Louisville Slugger, Adirondack, Wilson, Mizuno and Easton can advertise there? Ok maybe sunflower seeds and chewing tobacco too!

Do most advertisers make their money playing sports? Would the Baltimore Ravens advertise there? Would the Boston Bruins? Philadelphia 76er's? They are advertising FB and BBall. The sign says "New Yorks College Team", they are clearly advertising sports.
Also the poster mentioned an appearance in the College World Series.

My guess is that if you start here:
http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/nyy/spons.../index.jsp
you can have anyone advertise in Yankee Stadium. I don't believe the Ravens will gain much support, especially from Giants or Jets fans, which probably makes advertising in Yankee Stadium a moot point.
New York's College Team refers to both NYC and Upstate. The Upstate region is much larger than NJ and has roughly the same population so ignoring it is really stupid. Syracuse is the dominant college in all of Upstate NY and has many Syracuse grads and families in the NYC area. Keeping the Syracuse name prominent is a good idea for regular college recruiting as well as sports.
Rutgers is New Jersey's team. UConn is Connecticut's team. Syracuse does not claim those, though, you could suggest that to Dr. Gross, he might be able to do something with that. Thanks to ESPN, and TNIAAM, they are now considered a part of the Otto-Man Empire.

I like it...ofcourse now someone will make a Big 5 sign in FL.
BTW, I'm organizing a group of about 100 Cuse fans to USF this October.
