Offense steps up at scrimmage

Quote:DeKALB – Before spring practice started two-and-a-half weeks ago, Northern Illinois football coach Dave Doeren had questions about the Huskies’ offense.

“This team is really a flip of last year’s team,” Doeren said at a news conference March 26. “We sat here last year talking about how experienced our offense was going to be, how we had no idea who our specialists were and how we had a lot of new starters on defense.”

Well that says that Womble stood out from the pack on Saturday. Did anybody see? I had hoped that Womble would step up since he seems to have a lot of potential. Even though it's only 1 day, I'm glad that he's showing something.

Womble did a nice job of moving the pile on a couple of occasions, which you would hope for with a guy of his size. I wouldn't say he was spectacular but he did some nice things.

He definitely has to stop that, and if he does, maybe we can at least use him in short yardage situations.
