I respect it too. In a perfect world Louisville would stay in the Big East. However I believe those days are number and 2012-2013 will be our last season in Big East. I truely believe Louisville will be in the Big 12 for 2013-2014 season. There is to much benefit from Big 12 membership, cpmpared with staying in the Big East. 04-cheers

I agree, I have said all along UL is the most logical choice for #11.

That's just my opinion.

That is not my proposal so you can stop saying that. My proposal is that sometimes you go along with something instead of always playing the victim.

But you are such a victim that you cannot even see that I am saying such. You automatically revert to the mindset that someone is telling you to submit.

This is just silly.

I have come to the conclusion that Oliver likes to hear himself talk. What he does or does not think doesn't really matter. What the TEX prez thinks does.

That's certainly one way to look at things. Some people on the outside looking in may see UT's attempt to use the LHN for high school sports and their attempt to commandeer multiple conference games for the LHN as having broken the camel's back.
I can see that, but to me it appears that A&M fans are only jealous of the fact that Texas has the power in stead of them.

It appears that A&M found that the SEC was a much better cultural "fit" for the school.
Some things just don't work and the Big 8 + half of the SWC was one of them. That is why that 1/3 of the Big XII schools have now left for other places, the combo just did not work.
Good for Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri and A&M for getting to a better place before the Big XII ultimately dissolves.

I definitely agree that the Big XII turned out to be a poor fit for some schools. I disagree on the stability of the conference. The changes to tier 1 and 2 sharing, plus the schools signing over their tv rights has made the conference rock solid. At least for the length of the new contract.

We finally agree on something. 03-wink

It would very much surprise me if Louisville WAS NOT part of any expansion package. UL has very powerful allies in the Big 12 that have "promised" UL they will be next. Also, from a geographical standpoint the offer the "bridge" the Big 12 is looking for to link the midwest schools with the eastern schools. With UL the Big 12 can go NE or SE.

The rumblings from Oliver Luck about is expansion is the first step in the process. Nothing is "leaked" unintentionally.

Next steps:
1. Announcement of new commissioner (getting closer)
2. TV contract (1 and 2 might be flipped)
3. Announcement of expansion

We should start hearing more "official" announcements and not message board fodder.

I don't disagree Joe.
The Big XII lasted, what, 17 years in it's original form. Maybe the new Big XII lasts that long (I hope it does)but..............when the contract expires, the conference exists at the whim of Texas....scary!

Ultimately Texas will find greener pastures.

I am sure Terry Holland is sending out emails to Luck and Deloss Dodds as we speak.

With WV in the Big 12 now, ECU pimps can flood the Big 12 boards with the angle of being their rival/travel partner.

Like Houston and SMU aren't doing the same?

They'd "pull a TCU" in a heart beat if a Big 12 invite came.

If these past 7 years have taught me anything its that any school in a conference not named SEC, B1G, PAC, or ACC is always looking out to jump ship.

Yes. As you put it, nothing is "leaked" unintentionally. Luck is a powerful mover and shaker in the athletics world and doesn't just spout off about things for no reason. June/July 2012 expect some movement on the issue.

Yeah, and this guy can't wait for the process to get started. I still think issues with the Alliance needs to get worked out before any other Major expansions happen.

Rule changes could easily be coming down the pipeline for the Alliance considering how it seems they are going to try and pull this off. We know the Alliance wants something of a playoff system. If they are looking at a pod system then that is the natural step towards having a conference division set up that can offer you a platform for internal playoffs. CUSA and MWC each have their own conference championship with 12 teams and then you have a new rule or waiver for them to have an additional week for their Alliance title. That week created will most definitely get used for various reasons by the Majors.

I think the Big 12 will be at 14 or maybe 16 with in the next 2 years depending what happens to the other Big 5 conferences school numbers. They will match the others.

I can tell you what you are going to hear come June or July.

Crickets

Then the rest of us will be hearing the same people telling us it will be August or September.

While my first part of this post was meant to push some buttons, I am not trying to troll. Its just that the repetitive cloak and dagger talk about a undercover invite on the way gets old.

I would like to ask some honest questions. I would like to know what is magical about June or July that wasn't magical a month ago when the media rights, and tv deal was released? If you are telling me it is because they are waiting for the new commissioner to be in place, why is that a requirement? If the BIG XII already knows they are going to invite Louisville why do they need to wait until a new commissioner is in place?

Considering that Oliver Luck is being mentioned as one of the leading candidates to become the next Big XII commissioner, I think his opinions will carry some weight with those who matter. What you think of what he says is of no consequence...

Imagine that. The Big XII should have its new commissioner in place by then as well. Ain't it amazing how things work out?

You asked what is the hold up and I told you what I believe is the hold up. There will be new rules put into place for the Alliance. After that the major conferences will then be able to take advantage of those rules.

The Alliance does have to come first though for legal and perceptual reasons. So let the Alliance get everything hammered out and then get ready for the storm.
