Recent poll (according to CNN article I just looked at: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/201...?hpt=hp_t2) says she's the favorite at 26% favoring her, with Santorum at 21% and Rubio and Christie at 14%. I'll be honest - I'd be much more likely to strongly consider Romney if Rice was his VP candidate. I've met Rice myself, and I like her much more than all of the rest of 'em, except maybe Christie.
I did but I don't think it would be VP. I think she would take Hillary's job.

I think Condi would be foolish to saddle herself with Mitt Romney. Romney is going to have a tough time attracting the best candidates because he's viewed with such mistrust in the GOP and is likely to crash and burn in November and nobody wants to be part of a losing campaign.

This. Plus if he won then we would have to shut down this board.

condi rice has never run for any public office. hard to believe that romney wants to find out if she's a good candidate (or not ) by putting her on his ticket.

it'll be somebody who has been elected senator or governor. only possible exception is paul ryan

Rubio is the choice. Total home run pick. There's no other choice that gives him what Rubio would.

I don't think Rubio is all that valuable. He doesn't deliver the latino vote all that much. The Cuban vote? Sure, but they generally lean right anyway.

He doesn't need to deliver all of it, just 40% of it. The amount Bush carried in his victory. But that's not the main reason to put Rubio on.

Rubio gets that conservative base out to vote. That's what Romney has to make sure of. He's young, articulate, plays well on TV and he's smart. He ads "sizzle" to the ticket to help with Romney's dullness.

Romney's VP pick can't be some boring white senator or governor no one has ever heard of.

Rubio also has some baggage that could be problematic in a national campaign.

They are more likely to be acquainted with the baggage that surfaced in his 2010 Senate race — using Republican Party credit cards to pay for personal expenses, sometimes messy personal finances and sloppy adherence to financial disclosure requirements.

Yes. I'm sure after the GSA, Secret Service, Fast and Furious scandals Rubio's mortgage will be a serious issue Obama could exploit. 01-wingedeagle

Whether Obama's campaign exploits it or not, it will be a potential issue that will no doubt get examined by the press, and a potential distraction. As the article I posted states, the Florida politicians that know Rubio best are not all that enthusiastic about him as a VP candidate.

Besides: “Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio said today Mitt Romney should look for someone else with more experience than he has to join the GOP ticket. Rubio, a freshman senator, said other Republicans are in a better career position to serve. However, Rubio clearly opened the door to 2016 or beyond.”

NBC’s Andrew Rafferty reported that Rubio said yesterday that if Mitt Romney asked him to be VP, he’d say, “No.”

While he was sleeping. Of course, the poor guy had to clean up the sloppy mess that he left on his sheets in the morning. 05-stirthepot

Rubio lied about his parents fleeing Castro (they left years before Castro came to power) and Rubio was raised a Mormon, which could prove problematic for much of the GOP base (2 Mormons on the ticket, who most don't even consider Christian).

No he didn't.

Actually he did tell a little bit of an untrue story. Call it lying if you want, but what he said isn't true. http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/st...ro/1198006 (PolitiFact is one of the least biased sources you'll find in news media, and they're correct that what he said was false).
