By that logic everyone who does not pay federal taxes (47% of the pop) yet gets the benefit of those taxes is also selfish right?

If that's their only motivation, sure.

Yet you don't make the same allowance for people from the other side... Interesting..

But I have less of a problem of people who vote to keep food on the tablee, medical care and housing for them and their kids

What about the people who vote because they want to continue contributing 0% to their state funded retirement and medical benefits? Selfish teachers?

And we both know the safety net goes well past just food, shelter, healthcare.

Quote:than the rich guy who votes to keep his taxes low so he can buy a couple more Rolls Royces this year or throw it on the pile.

Nice bait and switch! *anyone* concerned about their taxes now equal a person with a Rolls collection!

Quote:And I don't think everyone who pays taxes and votes GOP is selfish. They may have other motivations.

Yet thats pretty much what you imply all the time.

Conservatives are dumb, selfish, evil, hateful, people...

1.) Nuh uh.

2.) If they're selfish they're smart enough not to "demonstrate" it

3.) Selfishness--having plenty and voting yourself tax breaks while people in this country don't have basic food, medical care and shelter

Aha. So you make even more errors.
1. Arbitrarily stating that voting for tax breaks makes one selfish.

2. No one in the US lacks basic food, medical are or shelter, unless they willfully live in Appalachia and avoid access to these.

Charitable and steal are antithetical? First of all, I don't consider

Regardless. I know you're solipsistic and crave being in power max, but no matter what you "consider" the words do have meanings.

Already established that you don't know history.

Or because bureaucrats figured out that they could get their hands on more money when it's under the guise of philanthropy.

Righties like the lawyers who work for corporations and rich clients, to help the rich get richer.

So? The rich get richer, and so do the poor. Good for everyone. It's the lawyers who keep everyone poor who are the problem.

Looking at NG's combined family income, I don't think either of those apply to him.

Obviously. Which is how we know he isn't working for a large corporation. Thus why he should just be quiet about being a lawyer. 05-stirthepot

Class - I guess from looking at the charts in this thread I'd qualify as upper middle
Selfish - No - (although very few would admit to being selfish) - give to a couple of charities and some time as well.
Boomer - Yep
Religious - Anglican - although I am crappy at attending church regularly.
Politics - fiscally conservative. socially - lean way more liberal - what others do I could care less as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.

Rich -Middle Class. Actually middle class. Not a rich guy who doesnt know he's rich.
Selfish - yes.
Boomer - only in the bedroom
Religious - Nope
Political views - I am a fan of moderation in politics and rhetoric. Anything other than that is on an issue by issue basis using a logic and reason. No one has a monopoly on the truth and no one is right all the time. Robert, however, has proven to me that someone can be wrong all the time.
Awesome - meh
