Knockout
So I was reading mlive earlier about a potential recruit...and I noticed that some knucklehead poster claimed that Greg Jennings was a prop 48 athlete and that was why he didn't end up at Michigan.

That was not the story I had heard, so I did a little digging. The story I had always believed was that Lloyd Carr offered Greg a scholly and shook his hand after a recruiting visit. When it was time for the papers to be signed, Michigan never sent them. They oversigned and didn't have any scholly's available and didn't have any to give Greg during the week they were supposed to be signed. (somebody correct me if I'm wrong, I've never talked to Greg)

I looked up Michigan's recruiting class that year to see how many guys Lloyd took instead of Greg....and I totally forgot about Kelly Baraka. I think this video was from sometime last year. WOW.

RE: Knockout
A Prop 48 athlete is not allowed to play until they complete a certain number of core classes and as a Prop48 redshirt they are not even allowed to practice with team.
Greg played as a frosh.

RE: Knockout
Jennings had clearing house issues, and did play as a freshmen. He was not a Prop 48.

RE: Knockout
Greg was a decent student if I remember KPS screwed up something and they thought he didn't have all his core classes which he did.

Greg was a good kid and is a great man.

Baraka as good and talented as he was, couldnt hold Jennings jock on the football field. Dont get me wrong, kb was good, but gj and jc harrison were so underrated it wasnt even funny.

RE: Knockout
Baraka's story would be similar to Charles Rogers' except he threw it all away even before he had college success and a chance to make it to The League.

He was very "enabled" or entitled during his HS days.

^ Most message board posters would take Charles Manson if they thought he could help their team win.

Everyone thinks they will get the next Randy Moss.

I did notice that one of the online questions during DD's chat today was regarding WMU's bball scholly situation. They wanted to know why we never held back any scholly's to sign transfers or late signees.

RE: Knockout
There are always those folks that want something better than what they have. Look at the Arkansas situation. Not as bad as Penn State, but the coach did have an affair with a person that he later hired. I'm not advocating for his job, but we are talking about the value system of will his punishment be the same if Arkansas was not winning or is it all about the winning?

I see that there are people talking about Urban Meyer and his tenure at the University of Florida. How many of us here on this board really appreciated his and his players behavor when he coached at BGSU? Is he a good coach, no doubt. Is he someone that I would want to coach my teams???????? He can bring championships, but what is he teaching young people. Is it supposed to be winning at all cost?

Always proud to be a Bronco.

RE: Knockout
Arkansas situation shows that too many men in power think with their little head. Arkansas only lost last year to the teams in the championship game and could make a run themselves this year. Petrino has a knack for screwing things up. But they are so desperate to be one of the big boys there that this will get worked out and he will be the coach.
