My guess is that
if Shields was involved in something similar to the Petrino situation, and was winning at the rate Petrino is, that the majority of Trojan fans(at least the ones who post on this board)wouldn't want him to be fired either. Winning big is the only thing that counts at most schools. I'd also guess that fans of most institutions would resist their winning coaches being fired for anything short of murder or child abuse, and some wouldn't even want the coach fired for those reasons.

If our coach was in a similiar situation, I'd like to think that I'd do the right thing and support getting rid of him, but I don't know that. But, we don't have to worry about that. It's very doubtful Shields would ever get himself in such a situation, and he ain't winning enough if he did.

RE: My guess is that
Whether we like it or not, the Hogs represent the State of Arkansas nationally, so his conduct is more subject to scrutiny than say the coaches at UALR or ASU. It would affect our fans, but nationally, unless it was something horrific, most folks wouldn't care anyway.

I wasn't talking about who's the more popular or who represents the state more than the other. I'm just speaking of fans in general. Fans are fans, and all most fans want is to win big. I'm not the smartest person around, but I am just smart enough to know who rules the roost in Arkansas, and that JUST ABOUT ANYTHING goes up there, and I'm surprised that this Petrino thing even hit the news. Years ago, this thing would have been reported as Petrino ran into a door, or tripped and fell down the stairs.
