Article says that UNLV is a possibility or at least a team in consideration. Am I the only one that is thinking and saying.... UNLV to the BE? Really???? They suck in football if this happens all I got to say is WOW!!!!

The UNLV AD is on record as saying he wants all his teams in one league. Which probably is a statement meant to pre-empt any Big East speculation because the UNLV AD knows they have no chance.

That one works but UNLV is behind BYU, AF and Fresno

I thought the big problem with UNLV was that they didn't support FB, and their stadium was way out in the boondocks. But haven't we seen some articles that they are planning a major new stadium right off the Strip? If they did that, I could see them being an attractive market and a very, very fun away game.

I will be ok with a UNLV invite IF and only IF all western schools are getting an all sports invite, with UNLV's inevitable all sports invite. There is no way, absolutely no way, UNLV gets a football only invite. I don't care if they were located in downtown New York, hands down the #1 market by population. We will quite literally be the laughing stock of AQ football if we invite UNLV football only.

No way UNLV gets a football only invite. There are too many better choices back east to accept any program of that caliber. Even out west, BYU, Air Force, Fresno, Tulsa, Hawaii, and Nevada make more sense than UNLV. Even with a new stadium, I dont see how they move the needle in football.

I've very content by the moves of Marinatto thus far. I disagree with this move to such a degree that given the resources, I'd stage a coup. If this happens i'd consider testing our luck in the shitsto clusterfu conglomer Alliance.

The Big East is looking for a football-only member out West. UNLV has been absolutely wretched in football for the last quarter-century. Got it?

They can run their mouths about a new stadium all they want but at the end of the day, UNLV only cares about basketball, and never football.

The Big East is also not inviting any Western schools as all-sports members so people need to stop this madness. It's AF, BYU, or Fresno State.

This article is pure garbage. The writer does a dis-service to the value of a SDSU Journalism degree if he is only in his 3rd year and this is how he writes.

I believe that the Big East is close to adding another team from the West into the Big East. There are three teams that are currently being looked at by the Big East: Air Force; UNLV; and Fresno State.

Ok he starts with "I believe" which means jack squat.

Then he says the 3 teams being looked at are....AFA, UNLV, and FSU.

SAYS WHO?!? No support for this random conjecture. Just random conjecture stated as some kind of fact. I haven't seen anything published from a reputable source that says Fresno State is being looked at....much less UNLV.

You can file this article along with all the others from Bleacher Report in the BIG BLUE file.

They would be down the list of BYU, AFA, Fresno St.

You western folks will have a much better handle on the UNLV situation than I would, but I can see a great deal of long term potential there. I'm not opposed to UNLV, if nothing else it would be a great travel spot.

So, take a grain of salt, then a few billion more and salt that field.

As I mentioned a few times in recent threads, UNLV Board of Regents are meeting at the end of May to discuss the implications of their huge new $1.5 Billion - $2 Billion on-campus project, that would include:

1) Building their first on-campus stadium



2) Huge renovation of the Thomas & Mack Center

3) New real/entertainment complex

4) New Dorm complex

UNLV (at least for Football) doesn't have a chance unless the on-campus stadium will become a reality. (UNLV will have a shot if they need a hoop program...but I don't see Big East ever taking a basketball only school):
