A question for Boise State fans.
What say you Boise State fans? Would you prefer to be in the WAC or the Big West. A Big West that includes Hawaii, Fresno State, SDSU, UCSB, Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton etc... with the addition of Boise State wouldn't be bad IMO.

RE: A question for Boise State fans.
Seeing as how one might not exist much longer and one has two possibly three former rivals and conference mates i'll go out on a limb and say most would rather go with the Big West. But hey, what do I know?

RE: A question for Boise State fans.
I 've always preferred the Big West haha. I just like the idea of being with San Diego State, and I'll like the conference even more if Fresno becomes #14 and puts their olympic sports there. Would be great to keep the far west of the nBE together. Like NYRedMan, I think most of us would prefer that conference (although I am not one to believe the WAC will crumble). Not like the team really had a choice though...

I'd prefer to stick with SDSU in whichever conference. Fresno too if they are the choice for the Big East.

Looking in from the east, it would seem to me if Fresno comes on board the B West is by far the best deal if available. Keeps rivals playing in a conf together. The separation between FB and other sports is not as defined.

I prefer the WAC. Bigger B-ball arenas and better names/competition.
Seattle - 15k
Denver - 8k
UT Arlington - new area 6.5 k
even if all the fb schools leave, other teams will want to join an auto bid and have better b-ball arenas.
CSU-Bakersfield - Robo bank arena can hold 10k
Chicago St. - new arena of 7.5k
UVU has a new arena of 7.5k
Grand Canyon Univ (Phoenix, AZ) has a new area of 6.5k (still D2 but wants to be D1).
In addition all are in better markets also for TV.
BW teams with <4k gyms doesn't appeal to me even with Hawaii and SDSU. They should actually be part of the WAC.

I agree with Tex, the WAC looks better to me than the Big West, but I'd rather be with SDSU and whoever the next western team is above all else. If that ends up being the Big West, so be it.

But if the WAC loses Utah St, SJ St and LA Tech and stops supporting FB can it even survive and is it really that attractive?
The poster above you was mentioning schools in TX and Chicago. Does the lower travel cost outweigh playing in front of 2,000 more seats? I think there is a better chance of drumming up local interest in your other sports playing in a regional conference compared to a second rate national one. (Trolls insert Big Least joke here)
If the WAC could make the successful switch to a everything BUT FB conference, brining in the best of the (non-FB) west it could be better. SD, BYU, Hawaii, Fresno, Boise, St. Marys, Gonzaga, Seattle, Denver and Portland. That has a nice set of teams and markets. It's like the original Big East.

You make a very good argument for the WAC. It doesn't sound as cut and dried as one might think. I think Seattle, Denver, and UTA (brand new arena in the DFW metroplex), would form a solid base with Boise and, perhaps, AFA. And, the WAC name still brings a lot of great history with it.

Umm, CSU Bako was averaging like 200 for their home games at Rabobank. Thus, they are back at the Icardo Center with a small seating capacity and still averaging about 200.

To the OP - Boise State doesn't have a choice in the matter. The Big West doesn't want them, so they have to be in the WAC.

They averaged more than that, but its available and they are independent in bball, put them in a conference and you get better attendance. Its there for them and it is a nice arena.

It was there for them when they went D1, but maybe 500 avg. Moved back. This place is a high school town. No college feel here at all. Going D1 did not generate any additional interest. They can't even build a D1 level baseball field. It's sad when the local JC has better facilities.
