BTW, Fab just declared for the NBA

It isn't like he robbed someone elses dorm room... the guy has never been arrested, is completing his degree, and in the heat of the moment lost it and punched a player who headbutted him in a game 2 years ago. Hell, the player he punched has also been suspended from XU's team in the past for drug use and other incidents. I'm not supporting what Gates did, but a punch is a punch. It isn't nearly as bad as it could have been.

Here's the full list of teams that are ineligible for the post-season in the upcoming school year.

10 Basketball and 3 Football Sitting at Home

13 of the 15 teams are basketball or football.

At first glance, UConn seems to be the only major team in the whole group.

UCONN is loading up for a monster 2013 recruiting class when we get most of our lost scholarships back. UCONN isn't going anywhere.

Katz actually wrote a decent article on future of UCONN and Calhoun. Calhoun addressed the APR ban issue plenty in the article along with various other things.

yes, that is usually what a ban entails, that you stay home.

With the team UConn will have next year, we probably wouldn't go to the NCAA"s anyway. I expect an NIT level team that will play its arse off (and hopefully beat Syracuse).

I think we just want to know where is the consistence in all of this? Punishing current students for the academic record of students no longer at the school is a joke. I am guessing NCAA wants to make an example out of UCONN.

Our AD put it best with the quote below:

http://www.uconnhuskies.com/sports/m-bas...12aaa.html

Quote:"When this change in legislation was adopted by the NCAA Board in October 2011 and made effective for the 2012-13 academic year, it gave the illusion that institutions had time to adjust to the legislation. Yet the data had already been submitted under a different penalty structure, one that would not have excluded our men's basketball team from participating in the post-season," said Manuel. "The approach to APR marks the first time in the history of the NCAA that it has ever implemented an academic rule significantly impacting current student-athletes without allowing the members time to adjust to the adoption of the legislation.

"In recent months, CAP chairperson and University of Hartford President Walter Harrison has been quoted as saying that CAP wanted to provide institutions with `a chance to adjust'. In actuality, these changes were a retroactive application of the rules. It remains the belief of the University of Connecticut that CAP and the Board of Directors should consider delaying the effective date of the implementation for all institutions to 2013-14, and/or use the APR scores from the 2011-12 academic year to determine postseason eligibility for the 2012-13 year."

UCONN's other 23 athletic programs all have APR of 945 and above. Current basketball players have APR of 985. I wonder if a lawsuit is coming.

You have a Strict Liability to educate these young men.
