Congrats Tigers! Anything good that happens to our members is very good for the nBE as a whole. Glad to hear it, can't wait for the first away game in Memphis. I'm definitely making the trip!

For 2.5 million dollars, it aint going to rival the Godzillatron. It might be around the same size or it may have the same high def screen, but not both. The Godzillatron cost 8 million......in 2006.

As the blog I just posted pointed out, "while $2.5 million doesn't seem like a lot for a video board -- Ole Miss and Mississippi State each paid around $6 million for their enormous ones a few years back -- consider this much like you would an iPad or a HD television: As technology evolves, prices fall."

You can but the exact same flat screen TV today for MUCH less than you could in 2006.

Speaking of $2.5 Million scoreboards, Nebraska's new $150 Million 16,000 seat Downtown Arena will have the first and only HD 4-sided Scoreboard in the Big Ten,. at a price of $2.5 Million.

Here's some renderings of what their new arena will look like in 2013 (set in downtown Lincoln, as part of a entertainment district that should make games/concerts there a fun place to go before and after games/shows)

Now that is a Beautiful Arena !
04-rock

Especially when you consider that past-performance of Nebraska's Hoop teams....but that still didn't stop the local community to come up with $$$$ to help them turn around their program.

The new downtown area will be a boom to an entertainment district, complete with lofts, etc...that should help the program and the city grow.

No wonder Colorado State HC jumped at the offer to move over to Nebraska....as now he might have a fighting chance to compete in the Big Ten.

It has become obvious that the boosters and fans are no longer satisfied with the results we've had over the last few decades and they expect the Tigers to be competitive in the Big East. The money has been flowing into the football program over the last few years at a rate never before seen. Hopefully, Coach Fuente and his staff will be able to leverage the new facilties upgrades into some decent recruiting classes.

Coach Fuente isn't trying to recruit you. The people he is trying to recruit do care.

Then blame RC. He's the one who said it would rival Texas' and cost $2.5M.

But I doubt it matters. FedEx is funding it, so if it costs a little more to get what they want, then that will likely happen. I don't think they're gong to be cutting corners with it. That is one reason they opted for one big one, rather than 2 smaller ones.

This one was install in 2010 at Kansas for 3.2 million. The screen is 85 feet wide and 28 feet wide – the entire structure is 97 feet tall. Uses HD technology.

Supply and demand are two factors in price. Another factor is more efficient manufacturing techiniques. The first one always costs more to make. Usually businesses get better at it over time and their manufacturing costs go down.

I agree with you on the pop music. It's completely unnecessary at college sporting events.

Point number 3 is definitely attainable, and we will know come september. The good thing about the relatively soon deadline is that we will for sure know who #14 is before that happens.

What do you consider in range of the ACC? Let's just say the ACC gets $16M/year.

I'm all for large Jumbotrons, as long as they're not so large that people start watching it instead of the game (Dallas Cowboys).

And I don't need music at 130 decibels.

This. Seriously, I couldn't have said it better myself.
