I see Georgia State is going to the Sun Belt Conference. Do you see them as a possible candidate for the BE 7-10 years down the road if they make some huge strides and maybe get an invite to CUSA first for a while. They play in the Georgia Dome.
I don't see it being a requirement for them having to go to CUSA first. the gap between Sun Belt and CUSA isn't going to be anywhere near what it used to be. It's just not.

Yes, and Charlotte as well. With UMass and Tulane being the other two possibilities in the East. Delaware and the rest of the CAA schools are all long shots, but you never know.

I really see the next desirable team being UMASS, after a few years of MAC play. Temple provided the blueprint for them to follow and I think they'll use that as motivation.
However, once a Western program is chosen for #14, I don't see us moving off that number for awhile.
If we were to lose a program, I don't envision us being in a hurry to replace them unless that team adds value. We have a lot of flexibility at 14 football members. If a program like UNLV gets their football jump started in the next few years, we can revisit those guys if needbe.

ECU has been nothing but mediocre in football, and bad in basketball. They would do nothing to change the perception of the Big East. I think ODU when they get going gets us nearly in the same area, but with a much bigger market as well as a much better basketball program.

UMass is expanding their stadium to 25,000. As of now, they have no intention of going larger. That's not going to get it done.
ECU is a competent program, but they do not excite me.
The others don't even deserve mentioning.
No offense, but I don't recall too many fans dancing in the streets when 1-AA UConn was fast-tracked for the Big East back in 2003. ECU would be a GREAT addition to the football and baseball leagues. They already have a fan base larger than most Big East schools, and their facilities are outstanding. I may hate their guts on the field, but I respect the committment they have to athletics. I realize that the Big East is a basketball-first league, but the recent expansion was about football, and I think the league made a mistake going with Temple over ECU. No offense intended to the Owls, but ECU had the MUCH better football program.

To me though- the difference between ECU and Temple in football is not enough to mitigate how much better Temple is than ECU in basketball. If ECU were having 8-4 or 9-3 years every single year- then yeah ECU would be a much bigger option to me. But they're like a lot of years 6-6 or 5-7(like last year, despite playing only 5 bowl teams).

The UMass AD said it best: "If we're drawing 30,000 to 35,000 people per game, [Gilette Stadium is] probably where (all the games are) going to be. But we want to have that [campus] option." UMass doesn't need a 60,000 seat stadium to play in the MAC, any more than UConn needed a new stadium to play in the A-10. If UMass joined the Big East, it would play its games at Gilette Stadium.

You need to learn your new conferences history a little better. UConn and Nova were offered FB spots in '97 and UConn accepted. There was a 7 year plan to get them up to D1A level. That plan was cut one single year short because of the raid. They were not "fast tracked", they spent 6 years upgrading facilities and building a 1A program.
