This week is the next to last leg of the FedEx Cup leading up to the Tour Championship in 2 weeks. The field has been whittled to 70 for this week's event outside of Indianapolis.

Ben starts the week in 47th place, so he has some work to do to make the final. Probably needs to make the top 20 this week, maybe top 15. He's off to a good start today: 2-under through 8 holes, tied for 7th place. Very early though. Leader is currently -4.

Ben had a very rough last week in Boston.

Not looking likely. Had 4 birdies today, but double-bogied his next to last hole. -2 doesn't get it today. He's sitting in 40th place or so.

3-under today, 5-under for the tourney, but that's not good enough in this field. Leader Vijay Singh is at -13. 5-under is 33rd place.

All he needs is to pop for say, a 65 today and he will be right where he needs to be.

Ben is -2 through the front 9 today which puts him in a tie for 21st. If he can get 2 or 3 more birdies, he will have a chance.

Now at -3 on the day and T17.

-5 on the day and up to 9th place, but if the tourney ended with him in 9th, he would only be in 40th place on the FedEx board. Looks like he will need a top 5.

He especially needs to pass DeLaet and McDowell who are ahead of him on both boards.

Has now birdied 4 in a row and is -10 (t-11) overall and -5 for the day thru 12 holes. Quick math shows he has made approx 127 feet of putts so far which is an insane number for any round let alone 12 holes.

All that being said he still has an uphill battle. If the tourney ended exactly where it is now he'd finish 40th in the fed ex standings so really looks like he needs a top 2 or 3.

Cheese and rice. He holed another one.

Another birdie! Now up to 5th place, but that only puts him in 35th. Needs more.

And then two bogies to finish 4-under for the day, 9-under for the tourney. Too far back.

Ben's season ends just as the Flashes fall season starts. Today is the final round of the tourney hosted my Minnesota. Pretty good field at the top. Cal is running away with it and it looks like no one can catch them. We are sitting in 3rd and will probably stay there with a slight chance still of moving up to 2nd or down to 4th.

Connors and Pendrith are tied for 4th individually, but Cal has three guys 1-2-3. No one is catching the leader who is 10 shots ahead of the KSU guys.

The team faded to 4th after a weak round today, but not Corey Connors: he shot a 4-under 68 today to go from 7th to first and win medalist at the Gopher Invitational. Great round!

BTW, the Flashes start the season ranked #13. We also have 2 players in the top 100: Connors and Pendrith. Cnooros will surely go up today with that win. Cal, who ran away with the team title today, is ranked #2 behind Alabama.

The men start play today in the Inverness Invitational in Toledo. Field has three teams who were in the top 10 at the year's NCAA Championship (including us, of course!).

Bam! Kevin Miller fires a 5-under 65 to take a 3 shot lead after round 1. Flashes sit in 3rd place in a very close field at the top, five shots back. Second round starts in about half an hour.

Fading today. Looks like about a 5th place finish unless they can turn the jets on the last few holes.

Made a liar out of me! Solid finish coupled with the teams above them fading puts the Flashes into a 3-way tie for 2nd! It's final. Northwestern won easily and we tied Fla. St and North Texas.
