Yep.

Sure it's not a big one, but there aren't too many teams that can say they ended the season with a win. Congrats!

Of course some delusional Pitt fan was suggesting that their CBI Championship was a bigger accomplishment than Cuse's Elite 8 finish. 01-wingedeagle

Congrats Pitt!

VCU won the CBI 2 years ago...and then of course made the Final Four the following year...plus another strong NCAA run this year.

Oregon won the CBI last season...won 24 games this year by making it to the NIT Quarterfinals.

Bottom line...tourn experience (especially with a team of Freshmen-Juniors) can help in the following year.

I don't speak for the Pitt fan base, but I'd rather have lost in the Sweet 16 again than win this tourney. But hey a win a win.

Actually for $$$ purposes...it would have been preferable to lose a play in game than win the CBI. I know the 7 games helped the younger guys though.

RE: Pitt Wins CBI
How many sports fans could even name the teams in the finals of the CBI or CIT, or who won last year?

More people know who won the main event at Wrestlemania.

Maybe...maybe not....but one thing is for sure...returning players normally benefit from any type of tourn setting (one and done if you lose), much more so than watching some dude in tights.

RE: Pitt Wins CBI
Most people don't really care about the final polls in college basketball since you have a true tournament and the rankings largely mirror tournament performance.

However, apparently someone was a little too excited about Pitt's CBI performance.

Final USA Today/ESPN Poll
#4 Louisville (661 votes)
#5 Syracuse (641)
#10 Marquette (464)
#17 Georgetown (242)
#18 Cincinnati (216)

Others Receiving Votes
#34 Notre Dame, #38 Pittsburgh (2), T-#39 South Florida (1)

So either two coaches voted Pitt 25th or else more likely a single coach voted Pitt 24th. What a joke.

RE: Pitt Wins CBI
Coaches poll is a joke. I know I am a homer, but Cincinnati has 6 wins against teams ranked higher then them including Georgetown x2 and Florida State who are right above UC. The coaches are made up of a lot of mid-low major coaches, hell some of them were probably coaches of teams in the CBI.

Here's how the Coaches all voted in their final coaches poll.

Yes...one coach did NOT vote Kentucky #1.
