Did you catch the ACC and SEC each have 14 team comment? Are they suggesting the Big 12 add 4 more teams? Louisville and three from Cincinnati, Rutgers, UConn, Clemson, VPI and FSU possiblly?

RE: WVU wants a Big 12 travel partner
I assure you if the Big12 can get their hands on some southern schools like FSU, and Clemson with the notion of going to 14 schools we will be in that mix for sure. I would try to go after those two mentioned as well as Georgia Tech to go along with Louisville. The Big12 would be invaiding some serious SEC territory not to mention gaining one serious market in Atlanta. The split would look much better with the Texas schools staying together with the Oklahoma schools with everyone else in the other division.
Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, WVU, Clemson, FSU, Georgia Tech
Texas, TT, Iowa State, TCU, Oklahoma, OSU, Baylor
This would make one hell of a conference that should push the SEC for bragging rights right out of the gate for superiority of the best of the best in football.

I'll tell you what if UL, Cincy, RU and UConn were going together to join WVU in the Big 12, that would be pretty cool. It'd keep us all playing some regional and/or traditional opponents but put us in a much more stable, much more profitable situation.

I wouldn't discount BYU on all of this either. I know it seems odd that the Big 12 would move west after stretching east, but BYU brings a lot to the table IMO. Am still not buying the FSU/clemson rumors. Seems to me BYU and UL would be very good additions to get the league back to 12. If the league expands after that, Rutgers would be hard to ignore.

Jim, thanks for fixing the link
No way ANY SCHOOL is leaving the ACC, not for the Big XII.

I would love to see Louisville,Cincinnati,Rutgers, and USF go as a package deal for 14. I would love to see FSU in the mix, but not sure they would leave ACC.I think the 12 needs an Eastern movement to really be feasible thus leaving BYU out West as Indy.

RE: WVU wants a Big 12 travel partner
I thought this quote by Luck was interesting:
(03-30-2012 10:53 AM)Blowhard Ollie Wrote: The discussions on the TV side are going toward the possibility of doing a 13-year granting of rights. They have done a six-year deal, so that would be adding seven more years to it. For those who don't understand what a granting of right is, it simply means that you are turning over your most valuable asset, your television rights, to the conference. That is the biggest way to assure security and stability.
Why didn't the B-12 do this before Missouri left? Supposedly, the league voting for six years, instead of 13 is a big part of what ultimately pushed Missouri out. Maybe they were leaving anyway, who knows?

I heard an interview with Chuck Ninas ( Big 12 Commish) awhile back. I think the interview was out of Kansas City and was orginally about the end of the kansas/missouri game. Anyway, Ninas went on to say that the Missouri BOGs never even took the time to listen to the Big 12s counter offer to the SEC. Not saying it would have made a difference becasue no one says no outside the Big 10 says no to the SEC, but that's still a pretty telling action.

That looks like a conference that could easily rival the SEC. It'd be great if it happens...

Wilkie we all know that BYU is more than likely in the plans to expand, BUT say the Big12 decided against or say BYU likes their Independence. Which ever I don't care how you would like to look at it, but I would pursue Georgia Tech instead of BYU. Yes BYU is a national brand for their mormon religion and so forth blah blah blah, but what the Big12 needs more than the BYU faithful is a top 5 market, and Georgia Tech could bring that with the Atlanta market. Also they would be a much better fit as well with FSU & Clemson to go along with Louisville and West Virginia. Just move Iowa State to the other division in place of BYU which I don't think the Cyclones would mind one bit.

Now this is a conference IMO that would give the SEC a run for their money right out of the gate.
