UCONN women already play in Hockey East. UCONN will join ND to make the league into 12.

Good for UConn if they make this move. They ought to be able to upgrade the team to be competitive and afford scholarships with the football/basketball revenue advantage that they'll have over most of the other Hockey East schools.

That's really good news for UConn. I loved watching Hockey East growing up (and I still do). As long as you guys aren't beating UNH and kicking the crap out of Maine I'll be happy. Congrats!

Funny because BC interruption was bemoaning ND and UConn joining. How it makes no sense. Then goes on to list out all the traditional rivalries being marginalized. But proposes ND going into their division. Ironic how that works. BC Interruption has always rubbed me the wrong way anyway.

BCI is filled with uncouth people The two major BC message boards have no respect for it, nor should they. TheUConnblog is way better.

I am uncomfortable with this move, as I'm not sure where we are getting the money to fund these scholarships. I believe our women's team is already in Hockey East and is fully funded so at least we don't have that extra start-up expense to worry about. Also curious if we play at XL, or if we build a better on-camous hockey facility than we already have.

I hope UConn becomes a hockey powerhouse & we have the brand name to do so.

A good move for the huskies. If Uconn adds mens hockey as a scholarship sport, will they also have to add any women's scholarship sports?

Good question. I think we have more women's sports than men's, so I don't know that we need to. Admittedly, I am not well informed about this.

Games will be played at XL center. Governor of CT supports the move and that's probably the backing UCONN needs. There is also a plan to completely overhaul the XL center and this could be another factor that will help to make it happen.

For people to support the team, we NEED to promote the program. I don't want our team playing in front of 800 fans in a 17,000 seat arena.

BC Interruption is hilarious. Most articles aren't grounded in reality. It's kind of like "The Onion", but it's about college sports with a severe BC slant.

I'm not saying that we will. I'm just saying that we've been a thorn in their side for a long time and they can't be happy about UConn getting serious about hockey. They're not celebrating in Chestnut Hill.
