Huskie Tailgate Showdown application
Got this in an e-mail this AM...
NIU Athletics would like to invite you to this year’s Huskie Tailgate Showdown on Saturday, April 21, 2012. The event will last from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM, taking place on the east side of Huskie Stadium. We are looking for cooks to prepare a sample size (i.e. one hamburger is equal to four samples) of their specialty dish[es], with enough portions to feed 400 Huskie fans.
If you wish to participate, we will provide you with a table, a tailgate area, two parking passes, and four t-shirts. In addition, we will supply electricity if needed. Following the tasting of the sample portions, fans will vote on their favorite dish, and a winner will be chosen in two categories: Best Amateur Cook and Best Professional Cook.
At the 2011 Huskie Tailgate Showdown, participants presented items that included specialty pizzas, Asian dumplings, pulled pork, Mexican style tacos and much more. If you think you have what it takes to win this year’s Huskie Tailgate Showdown, fill out the attached form and return it to the NIU athletic department by April 13, 2012. You can also contact Aaron Scissors at (815) 753-9198, or by email at ascissors@niu.edu. Following the event will be the spring football scrimmage, which is a great opportunity to come out and see your Mid-American Conference and GoDaddy.com Bowl champions led by Head Coach Dave Doeren. This is a great event and we want you to be a part of it!

The French style tacos are so juicy that after eating them, you have to do a oui oui.

I might come out for this. Not for the game, but for the food. I hate the spring game, so damn boring.

If you come to this you might as well come to the ground breaking ceremony at 11am. Then the baseball team plays at 1pm if that's more your thing.

I may come out and cook my ultimate specialty!
Anyone want to sign up now to taste my locally-famous Dog Fan special juice-infested cocktail weenie in a tight little soft, moist bun?

Groundbreakings aren't really my thing either. I think those are more for the rich people who already donated. I will probably stop by the Clean Sweep at the Convo, they usually have some pretty good stuff out there to sort through. If DD would somehow listen to me and have the spring game be number 1 O/number 2 D vs number 2 O/number 1 D and have them play an actually game I would be interested, but when they just do offense vs defense, that just gets boring. Also if NIU opened up the Yordon Center and a few other areas to the fans to look around then it would be better.

+1 on the bold. That would get more people out instead of watching the situation/period stuff they did last year.
