Sunday's Gazette and the editors comment
The new editor, or rather the guy in GR who oversees the Mlive news organization fields questions every Sunday regarding the new format.

One question came from a guy in Kalamazoo who was perplexed by how local sports coverage was being pushed aside in favor of Tiger, Lion, Piston, Wings, scUM, and MSU. The editor stated that these are the major sports programs in the state and therefore will get primary coverage. And boy was he right.

Sunday Gazette- Page 1 was a Graham Couch article on how much Green means to MSU. On page 4 another article on how the MSU team will miss Green.

Also on page 4.............WMU loses to North Dakota in the NCAA Tourney. 04-jawdrop04-jawdrop That's right, page 4.

Now I will admit that Dave Drew had a bottom front page story on WMU at the tourney, but come on..........page 4 in the sports section 03-weeping

The next test for the Gazette will be football. How it is covered will make or break the Gazette in terms of hard copy sales locally. If it is relegated to after thought status with GVSU etc. then the I believe this paper will be out of business within two years. Not because I think WMU sports is all that important, but I believe it will show that we are simply not a local paper by any stretch of the imagination.

Typical newspaper mistake. I don't need a Kalamazoo paper for national news or major sports. I can get that on a 24 hour news network and ESPN or their websites if I want to read them.

What I would want is stuff that I can't get in higher quality and quantity elsewhere, ie: local news and sports. Pretty sad that the Holland Sentinel's the only one that gets that. Top of their sports website going across is High School Sports, DIII men/women's hoops, Hope and Grand Valley.

I am still a fan of the Lansing State Journal and would prefer a Gannett internet news/ newspaper in SW Michigan to anything MLive has.

Have had problems with home delivery of my paper four times in last two weeks.

It's almost like they're TRYING to get me to cancel my subscription.

Are you on the 3 day a week delivery plan?
Many of those delivery drivers were struggling out a meager living delivering 7 days a week, now they get 3 days. Tough going

We went from three days to four this year (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday).

We have gone through a fair amount of delivery people over seven years we've lived here. Seems like about one a year if not more.

you mean I'm not the only one that gets the Sunday paper thrown in my driveway with a plastic bag holding it together? My mailbox is ten feet from his dropping point.

Last two Sundays and today we didn't get the entire paper. Tuesday it didn't show up until after 8 PM and two phone calls to their offices.
