really, really big. that was me by the way

I also finally learned how to use PayPal

Way to go PeoriaHuskie11! I have to laugh a bit...you are in the young tekkie generation...and didn't know how to use paypal. I like that...makes me feel better about having to try twice to get mine to go thru to Bleeds!

Didn't know how to use or just never used it before. same difference. Amazon doesn't use paypal so I never had the incentive to get an account.

I don't seem to have gotten a whole lot of responses with my appeals for Dog Pound brick donations. Anybody else care to try? I don't think it would be difficult at all to end up with $1,000 ....we are at $500 or so now.

More people are coming back to the board now that we're getting so close to the Iowa game.

I think we need a thread on the main part of the board again. Want to try HuskieJohn?

I really hope that the Huskie Pack statue shown in themiddle is not done by the same "artist" who did the Pig Dog. I want these to actually LOOK like Huskies!

It's not. The "Huskie Pack" statue is being done by a well-renowned local sculptor.

Brick campaign is now open for purchase. I put my order in today. Don't forget you have to pay 8% Illinois sales tax.

Wouldn't the sales tax only be due on replicas and display cases? The brick itself should be a Charitable Donation.

That is correct. Should be no tax on the donation only on anything you get in return...like the replica. So the tax would be figured on the value of the replica NOT the donation part.

Well, then it is set up wrong at the current time because i did not purchase a replica and paid $40 sales tax on my one $500 brick.

The FAQ portion of the site says the following, "Is there sales tax? Yes, 8% Sales Tax will apply."

However, when i ordered my Barsema Alumni Visitor Center brick i do not remember having to pay sales tax. So what gives this time?

So is there the 8% tax if we get our "name" on the wall?

Gotta think someone overlooked this. The FAQs even list the tax-deductible amounts for each brick. For example, the tax deduction for the 8x8 logo brick is $419.

I emailed Mark Muhlhauser; we'll get an answer tomorrow.

I think the issue is that you are forced to get a replica. So you are getting something for your donation.

While its nice I would rather not get the replica if that ment that more money went to the CPC and that I didn't have to pay tax. I don't get it, they are decreasing the actual amount that they can use on the CPC on fluff that someone may not want. IMO its a bad plan especially with $400k to go.

That's why the tax deduction is only $419 and not the full $500. The $81 difference is the fair market value of the replica.

right but I though the issue was that we had to pay tax on the full $500 instead of the $81.

Not true. Like i said, i just purchased the $500 brick and you have the option of ordering the replica and/or the the display case. I chose only the main brick and not the replica.

LOL I am so confused!

I really think that is for an additional replica...

"Each brick option comes with a complimentary keepsake replica and an individually numbered "Certificate of Ownership" to proudly display in your home or office."

edit...it clearly says that it comes with a complimentary replica in the order form.
