Tommie McCune, transferring from West Virginia, is a Saginaw native, I believe. Just blindly throwing his name into the pot.

The trouble with transfers is the baggage they might bring to a program:

Report: Forsythe, McCune Arrested

West Virginia basketball player Pat Forsythe and one of his former teammates, Tommie McCune, were arrested Thursday night in Morgantown and charged with petit larceny, according to a report in the Dominion Post.

Citing a police report, the newspaper reported both took items from a wallet found by Forsythe's roommate, including debit cards and $8 cash.

Forsythe reportedly gave the debit cards to McCune, who handed one of them to a third party. They bought food for themselves and WVU teammate Aric Dickerson (who was not charged) at a restaurant called Qdoba,

McCune later charged a total of almost $150 to the cards at a pair of Morgantown bars.

"We are aware of the situation," coach Bob Huggins said in a statement released by the school and obtained by the Dominion Post. "We will let the judicial process take its course and the matter will be handled internally."

McCune, a native of Saginaw, Mich., left the team just before the NCAA Tournament as the program announced his intention to transfer. He played in 13 games as a true freshman in 2011-12. In August, he was accused of shoplifting from a Wal-Mart store in Michigan. He later pled guilty to that charge.

Interesting but he was in trouble before he left Michigan.

What is the old, old expression: "Caveat Emptor" - the buyer beware'...

Due diligence is always recommended with ANY recruit or transfer.

As a side note, I have not heard anything negative about some of the transfers we have mentioned here such as Talley, Brundidge, etc.

A http://www.bankhoops.com (this is Steve Bell's site) poster is reporting that McCune is headed to No. Illinois with his old h.s. coach.

Talented addition for NIU. If all his legal issues are water under the bridge, he should definitely make them better.
