Pitt releases 2012 Season(blog)
Sept. 1 Youngstown State 6 p.m.
Sept. 6 (Thurs.) @ Cincinnati* (ESPN) 8 p.m.
Sept. 15 Virginia Tech TBA
Sept. 22 Gardner-Webb TBA
Sept. 29 Open
Oct. 5 (Fri.) @ Syracuse* (ESPN) 7 p.m.
Oct. 13 Louisville* TBA
Oct. 20 @ Buffalo TBA
Oct. 27 Temple* TBA
Nov. 3 @ Notre Dame (NBC) 3:30 p.m.
Nov. 9 (Fri.) @ Connecticut* (ESPN2) 8 p.m.
Nov. 17 Open
Nov. 24 Rutgers* TBA
Dec. 1 @ South Florida* (ABC, ESPN or ESPN2) TBA

The Chryst era officially begins at home against the Penguins of Youngstown State at 6 PM.

Its hard not to notice that WVU is not on the schedule with Rutgers replacing them during Thanksgiving week and Temple rejoining the Big East after an 8 year hiatus.

The only positive vibe I'm getting is that all of the home games are on Saturday's but the downfall is that we should expect a ton of noon time starts. And quite honestly, this guy doesn't mind those breakfast tailgates.

Its good to see that Pitt will have 5 National Televised games this year, and I think that number will increase as the season rolls on. I guess it helps that 3 of those 5 games are weeknight games and another at ND. But as of right now, 0 home games are slated for Prime Time.

Overall this is a weaker schedule than normal, but that was to be expected with WVU and TCU going to the Big XII.

My way too early prediction is 8-4 or 9-3

RE: 2012 Season
Any guesses on the start times?

My guess is VT will be 7 or 8 pm, the rest will be noon.

I think the VT game will be a 3:30 National Coverage Game or at least regional ABC/ESPN, the rest nooners.

The 2012 Pitt FB schedule reeks of ass. However, this is the perfect season to break in a brand new coach, not to mention that a number of the assistant coaches are coaching at higher levels than they had in their pasts too. Good season to learn on the job.

UCONN always gets the Friday nite games due to their TV draw or lack thereof. No surprise there. Unfortunately, I'm disappointed that Syrcuse plays as many Friday nite games as they do. I expect that for Rutgers, but Syracuse shouldn't stoop to such a level. Only good Fri nite game is the day after Thanksgiving, which Pitt lost out on due to the BYB going away. I would have liked to see Pitt and Syracuse play the day after Thanksgiving as a rivalry game. Obviously, that would have made too much sense to take into account the fact that Pitt and Syracuse has more history together than any other pairing in the BE.

Can't say I'm too excited about this schedule either.

I agree, I'm totally unsure why Syracuse puts up w/ these Friday Night Games. Thursday Night I can understand to a point, but not Friday. Other than VT I can't get too excited over this schedule other than maybe the Louisville game.

I put the Pitt 2012 schedule thread over on the ACC main board. I couldn't help put inject my personal opinion on the matter though...

The teams don't have much of a say in when their games are played. Pitt has requested no Fri nigh home games, but that usually means that they'll give us a Wed instead. TV (ESPN) really makes the decisions there.

The good thing about the schedule is no conflicts with the Pirates.

Didn't think of that myself. Hopefully we see at least 1 more Prime Time home game. VT is the perfect choice IMO

I get what you're saying, but Pitt can successfully avoid playing Friday games - aside from the day after Thanksgiving - at Heinz. Unfortunately, UCONN and a few other BE schools won't make Friday off limits like Pitt does for their home games. So yes, Pitt has no choice in the matter when it comes to playing away games on Friday nite, but they can control their home games when it comes to Fridays.

I'd rather the Friday after Thanksgiving to be a Noon or 3:30 game. But that's just me lol
